Like for instance I have the Persona 5 special edition preordered. I loved 4 the golden. Can it beoverpriced crap? Maybe, but I like the memorabilia. How about you, SW? Have you ever purchased one? Plan on buying one?

rarely, very rarely.
The only Collectors edition im willing to buy is TLoU2 when ever they announce it.
Collectors edition are almost always never worth it.
Depends, I have to know that the game is going to be amazing, so I only get it for series I absolutely love. I barely even preorder, so the series has to be top 3 for me. And I prefer the physical bonuses
I got Persona 5 and Danganronpa V3 currently preordered
I used to buy them pretty often but now only buy them for Uncharted. They're rediculously overpriced anymore and I have little room on my nerd shelf for the figures. I've actually sold off all my steelbook games except Uncharted Collection (imported) and Uncharted 4. Those I'll keep.
If Uncharted Lost Legacy has a steelbook version, I'll pick that up as well.
Depends on the series.
I always get the Zelda (was lucky enough to get a Master Edition from GameStop, so I actually won't be playing Zelda on day one) and Halo special editions. I hope Mario Odyssey has a limited edition. I'd scoop that up in a heartbeat.
I will buy them if they're nice enough. The Zelda one was nice, but it was gone instantly. And I have to disagree with the before stated, "most of it is worthless junk", considering that could be used to define any number of hobbies and collectibles.
I have really only ever bought Collector Editions for Nintendo games....recent ones include SE Zelda BOtW and FE Fates.
I'm a collector, so yes. However, I only buy CE if I believe the game is going to interesting for me. Some games I don't even play them, they just sit there in my collection unopened. If I do play them, I buy two versions, one collectors for the collection and the base game for me to play. Usually if multiplat, I buy console collector's edition--it comes physical, and buy pc when it comes to playing the game. Yes, I spend a lot of money.
If I do, it's only if it comes with the season pass.
but generally no. I don't fanboy that much :P
TBH, however, if I owned a home and had an office or a room with shelves, I would totally buy CE's and display those things, hang those maps and flags and posters, put of the statuettes and whatnot lol. I'm just jelly...
Considering the vast majority of my collection is now digital, very very rarely.
I believe the only collectors' editions I have gotten were for one of the WoW expansions back when I was really into it, Dragon Age Origins and now Persona 5.
Why pay the price of 2 games (or more sometimes) to get 1 game?
Why buy a Ferrari when there are 2nd Toyotas? Why buy a house when there are tents?
