No. If I'm hyped for a game then I'm expecting it to be good.

I can't say I ever feel that way as I tend to look forward to games I want based on my interest in the title and not by how others perceive it.

Some games ooze greatness regardless of flaws, and I speak in subjective terms. I don't think one person here could pick through their favorite games and not find many of them riddled with flaws. Curiously enough you just find that you enjoy certain things regardless of them being low quality.

That's definitely how I feel, and I'm sure many others are the same. I can't imagine the feeling of wanting a game I know is going to be utterly atrocious, something I'll be disgusted at while playing.

Sometimes if your expectations of a game are low and it turns out great it can often be more fun.

there have been games that have scored terribly and i have thought were great, but I wasnt hyped for them before I bought them.

No, because then there's no point of being excited or hyped up for that game.

theres always the chance of a game scoring mediocre and you finding it amazing

ie: Sonic Unleashed scored terribly here, yeti t was probably in my top 3 sonic games of all time (nothing beats Sonic 2 and Adventure 2 though, imho of course.)

Sure, because there's always that hope that it WILL be good, but you ultimately know better.

When I first read the title, I thought no way thats just dumb. But now that I think about it, yeah i guess I do. I'm currently looking forward to MK9 even though I know that it will pale in comparrison any decent fighter. I also continually get hyped for FF games knowing that chances are they will be mediocre games with stellar production values.

I've looked forward to games that were iffy, like Metro 2033 (which I actually liked), it was a gamble since nobody decided to review it and even less attractive as it sold $50 instead of $60, but in the end I enjoyed it and played it much more than FFXIII or God of War 3 which released around the same time also I looked forward to Lost Planet 2 until I saw reviews, then held off over disappointment, but then after playing Red Dead Redemption, Split/Second, Alan Wake, Mario Galaxy 2, I decided to finally pick up Lost Planet 2 since it'd be like 3 months before the next significant release and I actually really enjoyed it a lot also, I originally looked forward to Dante's Inferno because it was developed by Visceral who did Dead Space (which I loved) but I didn't like the demo, then it got horrible reviews, and I withheld form buying it since the first quarter of the year was already costly on me (Army of Two, Bayonetta, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2) and I still had like FFXIII, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Bad Company 2 and so on to look forward to, so I held off, but I did my dad a favor and he wanted to buy me a game while we were at the store and being as I already bought everything I wanted I decided to just get Dante's Inferno since it wasn't on my wallet, and to my surprise I actually like it quite a bit, and I ended up liking it more than God of War 3 because it did what God of War 2 did that GOW3 forgot to do, and that's have a lot of challenging combat filler between bosses, I mean it has a lot more hack and slash button mashing than GOW3 that I really loved about GOW2

Uhh yeah because fun has nothing to do with quality.

I look forward to Dynasty Warriors 7 alot, but I know that it's not going to surprise anybody score-wise.

Yeah, I thought that about Singularity for a long time, but to my surprise it's becoming one of my favorite games this year.
