I went through a bout of this about a few years ago, I didn't play anything for a month. Literally nothing for a month and I went off and did other things with my time, I then started to miss gaming and got back into it and everything was dandy again

I'd be totally shocked if you didn't get burned out at least a few times. You can't devote all your time to gaming or it will start to get old fast.

Another thing that helped me was finding a new style of game to play. I was getting bored of gaming a bit again a little while back and then Dark Souls came out and completely restored my faith in gaming

I never grow up from gaming, but my tastes change. Like I used like arcade racers, but ever since I could get my hands on more sim like racers i've gone with them.

I'm more into Nintendos old school stuff as well, so i'm not sure if i've changed of they have,

Well, I'm moving into a new place in a few weeks so I hope that will change things.

No offense but maybe your just a miserable person that has a negative attitude about everything. People that watch a lot of TV have been brainwashed into having a negative perspective on life. Most people go through the motions but don't actually know how to enjoy the moment. Don't take life too seriously and don't allow debt and situations to affect your mind. Life is wonderful and if you have your health than you have everything! God Bless!

Like what everybody else said, you are just burned out and in no mood for gaming.

But that day will come back when you just dive in games.

You can't "grow out" of gaming, unless you think it's for young people only... Sounds like you've lost interest in games.

You reminded me of Kinex. The lego killer that failed to kill lego. Oh and there was ultrablox or something like that. That also failed to kill lego.

I'm 33 and since I ditched the girlfriend I can spend my money on hobbies like gaming instead of wasting my money on destructive things like going out to eat which is unhealthy and going to clubs which is pretty self destructive. My ex is miserable now unfortunately and I'm having a blast playing video games but I pace myself. I don't play everyday but when I do it's fun. Maybe you need to take some B12. it's an anti depressant. Gaming is far better now than ever. It's a more realistic experience.

Its pretty simple, Games are just not as good as the past. NES, SNES, PS1 and PS2 games are still good.

I grew out of gaming for awhile (3 years) mostly because of my job, I didn't have time. I got a lot more time, and got back into it a year ago. I probably wouldn't play so frequently if it wasn't online.

I've felt like that too often... what I do is that i play an old game that i said once that i was going to play some time and just force myself to play a bit of that game every day ( usually an old RPG ) it eventually kicks in the kid inside of you and you feel like playing more. Then again I do enjoy doing a lot of things besides h.w which is my main hobby atm..... zzzzz

After a couple of months drought related to writing my MA thesis, I play like crazy as if I didn't play before in my life. That's one thing, though. The second one is that, despite playing this much, I find it a flawed and culturally challenged experience at times, compared to other art media. And with massive limitations, even within the video gaming world itself.

How old are u, clyde? One thing im personally feeling is how much i grew up of this modern theme we've been spammed since 07. I have BF4, amazing game even in its broken state but something doesn't let me enjoy it anymore (only reached level 44). Its like im so fking tired of using the same Scar H and the stupid UMP's in every single modern shooter that even in epic multiplayer games like BF4 i just can't handle it anymore. This may be the last modern shooter i buy ever. I remember having the same thing back in 05 after beating CoD 2 and since that day i haven't bought a single WW2 title and probably never will. I don't think you've grown up of gaming. I think that after TLOU release until god know when (Spring 2014? like i don't even know when the first game i care about comes out...) its been the shittiest time for gaming, for me personally. Its 1 freaking year with nothing to play wtf

I am the same way.

I am 34 now and over the last few years I just don't have the same urge to play games that I used to, and I don't think it's burnout either I still get the odd game I can really get into but those games are few and far between those days, I just don't think games have the appeal they used too.

I share this sentiment. Just hit 40 a few months ago... and feel exactly the same way. Seems like most games now just have a been there, done that feeling to them. Maybe a year or two into the "next gen" there will be something that will blow me away and get me feeling that itch to buy a new system again. I've been visiting this site more & more recently, more to see if watching videos and seeing reviews will get me more interested in actually playing again.

I hope i never get to the point you both are in. Depressing lol. I'm so thankful that i skipped Borderlands 2 last year so now im playing the GOTY version and having shitload of fun. Dunno what i'd be doing without this game

Im kinda the same although these days I play games for the story and cinematic experience.

THing I like about gaming is that the stories are far more detailed and have much more character development than any movie can hope to achieve.

Bioshock, mass effect, dragon age, fallout, last of us, unchartered....I will never get bored of.

Also buying a ps4 was your biggest mistake. Absolutely nothing of worth, in terms of interesting gaming, on that system until a naughty dog game comes out.

I grew up on Nintendo. Grew out of those games sometime in my teen years. Tried to get back into them a few years ago with the Galaxy games, but I just couldn't.

I'm sure some people do. I haven't grown out of gaming, I've just not been very fond of the direction of the gaming industry over the past generation, and drastically re-adjusted my tastes in games than what I had during the 7th Generation.

Yes. You grow out of gaming. Don't worry, it will be okay. There is a world out there you can actually explore. I know it's scary, but step outside into the light and move on. It's time to let go my friend.

Even though I still like playing games(well maybe not as much as when I was a kid), I don't play as much as a hardcore gamer. I just pick a few games I'm sure I'll like and which I believe will offer me a good story and an immersive atmosphere. Because of that, and limited free time owing to university, I don't feel burnt out at all.

I took about a 3 year break of gaming, thinking I'd never game again. I gamed hard once I got back into gaming. Now I'm playing catch up.

Some of you talk about growing out of gaming and losing interest but still average at about a crazy 30 posts a day talking about games .

Probably just burned out. Happens to me a couple times a year where I need to take a few weeks break from gaming. But I still love gaming.

Also quite possibly you're just less interested in certain types of games. I know for me at least, I've been much less interested in shooters (with some exceptions) and much more interested in RPGs/JRPGs.

Right now, I have a brand new PS4 sat here next to me, still its in box unopened. I have a GTX 780Ti with over 200 games on Steam with no urge to play anything. Games on the X1 look meh, games on the WiiU look meh. Hell, even games that are set for release in the next year look meh...

Am I growing out of gaming SW?

I don't think that it's you necessarily "grow out" of gaming. I think the older you get the more the less time you have for it.

I know i'll game till I die. I'll just be doing a lot less of it in the middle and a lot more of it on my deathbed.
