Been reading alot of damage control over Gran Turismo's sales lately. "Weah, weah.....shipped not sold, it only sold 2.9 million, herp derp" So does anybody have a link for that? Preferably one that does not include VGchartz or anyone who got their information from VGchartz. Right, didn't think so. God damn it's like the PS3 is not ALLOWED to succeed in an endeavor in system wars without being undermined. When it has superior graphics, you pretend like God of War and Uncharted graphics don't matter. You then collectively cream yourself over a displaced hair strand or a sharper shoulder texture in Dead Rising 2. You talk about PS3 games like they barely break 500k or something, but when it sells faster than your prescious halo, you just have to find some weak damage control excuse. "There shipped not sold!! Noble honorable Microsoft who never lies to us gives us SOLD to consumer numbers! (even though that's not possible, but we know that, we just need a reason to hate Sony!) The whole "shipped vs sold" BS has already been debunked here so I won't waste my time, but tell me, do you have a link for this whole "GT5 only sold 2.9 million, Sony r lie 2 us...they spin numbers" nonsense? If you dint have one or any way of proving it then please stop spamming "shipped not sold" in every GT5 thread. Kthxbai. StrongDeadlift
Don't know anything about sell through of 2.9 MM or whatever.
I expect GT5 to do pretty well, although the drop off in Japan is surprising.
But that isn't why I am posting.
I am questioning why you think it is not possible to know sell through numbers.
so? gt5 will be one of the top selling games this gen.
what does it matter? (other than gt5 literally moving the racing genre back by 5 years and developer realizing they can half ass online and damage and car quality and still sell an ***load of copies)

So, in the couple of weeks it's been out, devs have suddenly decided to half ass their productions and the entire genre has regressed by 5 years as a result? Damn, Polyphony is more influential than I thought.

who has set the bar for the last decade in console racing games?why bother putting in work and extra cost when there is a concrete example that your game will sell no matter how you mess it up?
gt5 does not even meet the bare minimum standardsof xbla indie games that are made in many cases by one guy in a basement are required to meet.

I'm still failing to see how GT5 has set the entire genre back by 5 years.
