Do you leave games unfinished often?

On my bookshelf, there is a shelf chock full of PC games. I was examining it the other day, looking down the long row of DVD cases and CD jewel cases. Then, I realized: I have left, at minimum, a third of these games unfinished. Some games I played for a few hours and put back onto my bookshelf, never to play again. Other games I have completed, with the exception of the last level.

So, here is a list of games I have left unfinished:

1. Half-Life 2: Episode Two - I've finished the Half-Life 2 and Episode One, but I haven't finished Episode Two yet, even though it has been nearly 2.5 years since I have bought it. It's probably because I got stuck in that antlion cave ninety minutes into the game and didn't know how to get out of there.

2. The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion - I've spent nearly one hundred hours on this game, downloaded gigabytes upon gigabytes of mods for it, and I still haven't finished the main quest.

3. Splinter Cell: Double Agent - I couldn't get past the fourth level, for some reason. I keep failing to sneak up on that guy with the blowtorch. I tried shooting him from a distance, but then the blowtorch fell into the oil and the entire oil tanker blew up, ending the mission in failure.

4. GTA IV: I got through about two-thirds of the game, but then I just got bored with it and never finished it.

5. Doom 3: I stopped playing this game half-way through. Too many hallways; enemies were way too similar, shock value wore itself off early on. Pretty graphics, though.

And there are many other titles which I have underplayed as well. Medieval 2: Total War comes to mind...

Yeah I do. So far I've finished Every 360 game I have but that's because Forza 3 is pretty much never ending, Halo 3 ODST is short on it's story line, Gears of War 2 was long but I finished the Story and the Deleted Scene and I play the Game's Multiplayer more on it and Perfect Dark I knew what to do and flew right by that game.

I don't have much for the 360.

But for the Nintendo Wii and PS3.

Well dang I haven't finished Madworld, A Boy and his Blob, or Super Mario Galaxy 2 and I haven't even touched Batman Arkham Asylum or Brutal Legend yet. and I'm finding a hard time finishing God of War 2 as well.

I'm not even going to go into my SNES games or Genesis games. heck I didn't even name half of my library of games.

Only sometimes when the game just lacks a compelling reason to keep playing until the end or is just flat out boring and no fun.

Yeah, quite a few as I just don't have the time or interest to finish them. A few that come to mind that I got close to finishing but haven't are HS, Infamous and RE5.

I have a huge amount of barely and sometimes not at all played games. Most likely more then 40, I will probaly never get to playing most of them.

I own alot of games for my systems and gaming pc,and I just dont have the time to finish all of them which sux.

The only game I've never finished is Bioshock.

Some games I have a hard time trying to finish just cause I got really bored of them. I end up beating them later on though when i'm extremely bored.

Nope ;) I finish all my games.

Almost more than half of my collection are filled with unbeaten games, though most if it is due to my lack of motivation to finish them or simply lost of interest for them.

Not very often. I'll finish a game eventually if I can. According to my Backloggery account, I still have 30 unfinished games (out of 182), but a lot of them are really games from previous generations I couldn't beat, or were too crappy (such as Carmageddon 64).

No, the only games i could not finish out of frustration and boredom were MGS4, RDRand GTA4

I have hundreds of games I have never even touched much less left unfinished. Probably half my collection of games is unfinished or unplayed. With games constantly coming out that I want to try I never have enough time to finish anything. I will start to play a game, put it down for something else, come back to it a year later, put it down to finish a game and then start playing it until new systems come out and then it sits thier needing to be finished.

Heck I have been playing Fallout 3 since it came out off and on. I am only level 12. I recently put it down for Alan Wake. Started playing RDR only to put it down to play through Mario Galaxy 2. Now I am juggling Mario Galaxy 2 and RDR. Mario Galaxy at lunch for an hour and then RDR for and hour at night. Who knows when I will finish them?!? Hopefully before Metriod other m comes out!

ALWAYS. CONSTANTLY. It's not because they are bad games either, if they are bad I sell them or trade them. I just buy way more games than I realistically have time to play. I would seriously need a 2 month vacation from work and friends to finish my backlog. :(Hahadouken

I may not finish games immediatly, but I always finish them eventually (for the most part). Out of ~20 PS3 games, five or six aren't finished, but that doesn't mean I won't get around to playing them.

The only game I've never finished is Bioshock.

Biggest letdowns and unfinished games this gen

1) Resident Evil 5 till Chapter 4 ...

That crap was way worse than RE4 and imho worst game of the series.. I got bored everytime i was trying to play. A god knows why i did it till Chapter 4.A big letdown for RE awesome series...

2) Dragon Age : Origins. At first it amazed me , very nice indeed but for a reason as i was keep goin so was my excitement... After 6 hours felt so... boring i couldnt stand it.

3) Fallout 3 Same as DA origins... At first looked very interesting and then.... oh the tragedy... Very boring game !!

Very often. Sometime its my fault sometimes it isnt. I have a nice pile of games that I have not completed due to corrupt saves or loosing the saves after a format...or should i say forgetting to backup the save files before a format.

I have so many games to beat its sad i just beat both resistance and uncharted 1 in february of this year. I am trying to get around and play my bad company 1 and beat it before i go into bad company 2 i am just trying to get as many games out of the way as possible before the new systems come out. This is all due to having a girlfriend and 2 jobs that demand my time.

i used to never finish games, often times i'd play as much as i wanted, then ask a friend who had beaten it what the ending was like

pretty much did that 100% of the time until maybe 4 years ago, when i decided it was time to finish some games

now it bugs me a lot if i haven't finished a game, tho with the # of games i play at once and how little time i actually spend gaming per week it takes a long time to finish any of 'em, but i eventually get there, and i've been going back and finishing games from my childhood that i never bothered to finish

Almost never, only game I have unfinished right now is Dark Atheana, but I'll finish it at some point, probably. Ohh, and Fallout 3, it was just sucha horrible game I stopped playing it and traded it in. fastr

I haven't finished Resonance of Fate yet, and just started RDR, so it's not often. I'm sure I have left some unfinished over the years though.

Yes because I think if I beat the game I will never play it again so I don't beat it so I can continue to play it.

I rarely ever leave games unbeaten these days. I think I have beaten somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 games in the last year or so (if you count 2nd playthroughs that is), but there are a few I haven't beaten that I will list below.

1. Oblivion- I beat couple guild quest, KotN, Shivering Isles, Arena but still had mages guild and main quest to finish but I couldn't finish main quest b/c I accidentally sold a rare book that was neccessary to move on.
2. Folklore- got lost in the Endless Corridor and gave up
3. Dead Space- rented it. got to 11th chapter and then ps3 died on me. so I returned the game. I got new system but don't want to play through game all over again.
4. Half-Life 2: Episode 2- got stuck on last battle before the end b/c I drove my car into a place it got stuck so I had to run around without one to catch stalkers. I tried a whole bunch of times, almost did it once, and then never again tried.

Half Life 2 and Bioshock, I just cannot pull myself together to play those games. I get bored within a hour.
Edit: Oh, and a couple of rpgs I have that I ended up not liking or they became pretty generic, so I couldn't stand playing them.

i dun remember but since you mentioned it, i never finished Doom3 nor Half Life 2.

I leave games unopened and never even played. Bought gears of war 2 and halo 3 six months ago, havent even played them yet.IgorAntunov

This happens to me a lot, I got7 unopened games as now, last week I opened Batman Arkham Asylum and played for a couple hours, the next day bought bioshock 2 (havent opened it yet) borderlands and red dead redemption and only borderlands has gathered serious playing time (mostly collecting guns)...
