Are we referring to older games as retro, or do you mean games that are made in the style of old games (the true meaning of retro).
Either way, I play both. As @davillain- said you wouldn't be a legit gamer if you didn't. I appreciate all games from all years, though admittedly if I was not present for the game during it's release I find it hard to play it in the context of modern standards.
I probably play the original Deus Ex about three times a year; to this day, from the day it showed up on my hard drive almost 20 years ago, I have played it that often.
As far as modern retro games, I like Dead Cells, Hyper Light Drifter, and some others. The whole rogue-like thing isn't really for me and a lot of those games are made in the retro style, but I still like to try them out. The fact that a lot of these often-excellent independent titles are only about 5-10 dollars and offer a lot of bang for the buck doesn't hurt either when it comes to experimenting with genres you're unsure about.
And, not to be "that guy", but why is such a fun and light-hearted discussion in System Wars and not Games Discussion? C'mon people the wrong forum is alive and well while the right forum is barely holding on.
