Lets say uncharted 2 for example.

Would you play uncharted 1

Or just go for the critically acclaimed second 1.

I try and play all of them, dependant upon the system of release. I like to get the back story.

I only do it if i got enough money. Like in the case of ME2 I had enough money for both ME1 and ME2.

If there's any sort of connected story I need to play them in order.

Depends on the game/series.

Honestly, I don't think you can truly enjoy Mass Effect 2 unless you play through Mass Effect 1 and import your character from there into ME2.In the case of something like Uncharted 2, I played Uncharted 1 but never finished it but I played through Uncharted 2 in a matter of days because I thought it was a great deal better than the first and I don't really feel compelled to go back and finish UC1.

That can be a hindrance. Luckily, if I like a series, i'll buy them early enough that price isn't much of a factor (break in between releases). Such as with Mass Effect, which was the only game I bought first oin 360, then on the PC.

Yeah the character import in ME2 was a sheer stroke of genius. But games like AC2 i think you can skip the first 1 and be alright.

Yeah i had to decide if i wanted it because it would be an extra 25$ and i knew i wasn't gonna go back to the first one.. Boy was i wrong. I feel compelled to go back and change things up.

It usually depends on the quality of the first title in a series. I didn't play Assassin's Creed 1, since much of what I heard about it was repetition. I picked up the second instead, since it improved on the original.

Otherwise, I would go back and play the entire series. I'm think about going back and playing the entire Ratchet and Clank Future series.

Depends on how many games the franchise has. I just started playing Final Fantasy XIII after avoiding the series for over 20 years because of its turn based battle system. I love XIII so far but I doubt I will play the 12+ games that came before it.

If it's the kind of game that follows a story, hell yes. If it's some kind of multiplayer game based on quick, random, looping matches or something like that there is no point.

Depends on the game. ME to ME2 yes. Serious Sam to Serious Sam 2 No. Killzone to Killzone 2 no...

I usually do play the original games before the sequel, unless I can't find them or they're exceptionally bad.

It depends. If I'm able to get my hands on the previous game for a reasonable price, I'll always go for it. However, say if the previous game is either on a console I don't own, isn't very good or is out my price range, I'll just go for the future games in the series (depending on how good the future games are).

If there is some order to the games/story then yeah any normal person would almost have to play the previous over the sequel to get some idea of what is going on but if it is just another game in a series of games like Call of Duty or Battlefield (PC) then no you can pretty much just pick whatever version up.

If it has a well-developed plot that connects between the games, then I would play all of them. If plot isn't relevant between the games, then I will just play whichever game I feel like at the time.

Well I bought Uncharted 2 without playing Uncharted first. After playing U2 I did buy Uncharted 1 though... But I also played KZ2 without playing KZ and will not be picking up KZ. I guess it depends on the game, really ...

I'm not sure what you are trying to say in your poll, but Raiders of the Lost Ark is the best movie in the series. Period.

I almost always do that.

I played Uncharted right before the second one came out.

Same goes for Assassin's Creed.

I still haven't played Mass Effect 2, and I don't plan on it because the first is so boring.

Also, I didn't finish the first No More Heroes, but I did with the second.

Depends. I finished UC1 then played UC2. Same goes for every Ratchet game to date.

Although, I played JAK3, then 2 then 1.. Ironicaly, I liked the first one the most.:P
