its funny. this gen i have basically not bothered with most AAA games. i dont think i have bought a game from EA, activision or ubisoft in a couple of years now. its nothing particular against these companies. its just a lack of interest.
but i will be getting mass effect andromada. that is looking good.
they have done a good job with managing their resources though. i think the frostbite engine is now the go to engine for all development at EA and that is a good thing. it just makes things more efficent. the fact that the frostbite engine is also a cracking bit of tech certainly doesnt hurt. EA were clever by having developers focus on pushing beyond what the PS3 and 360 could do before the PS4 arrived. so they were well prepared. as a result they make many of the most impressive looking games this gen. compare that to, say, bethesda who have a tech base that basically stinks (please switch to IDtech for elder scrolls 6...PLEASE!!!). or sony who had a tech base and set of tools that were completly unsuitable when the PS4 launched.
2 things i dont like though:
1) they nickle and dime on the DLC.....really badly. its arguably necessary due to the cost of development but games shouldnt be sold in pieces. a lot of companies do this in fairness but EA do seem to really push it as far as they can.
2) they have a habbit of chewing up developers. if your studio is bought by EA prepare to move within 3 years.
