Poll Do you think a "digital games only" future could happen? Would you still buy consoles? (95 votes)
With Sega turning their focus to mobile and PC, going all digital...Do you think that other deveolpers could do the same?
If gaming ever did go all digital with no more physical discs, would you still buy consoles?
Think about it.
Sony. PlayStation Now. PS5 or 6. PS Plus could get you over 1000 games, including all of Sony's exclusives... EVER, for a yearly fee. (Pretty much the video game version of the WWE Network. Everything runs on the "cloud" or something.)
Microsoft. Uh...Windows 11. Will play all Xbox games and will allow cross-play between plaforms. (Or Xbox Two could run Windows 11 and act like a Steambox)
Nintendo. Uh...I don't think they'd ever go all digital. If they did, maybe something like the Sony idea, but with Virtual Console games.
I dunno. If something like that ever did happen, it would be the final nail in the coffin for PS and Xbox. They'd officially become PCs. Crappy watered down PCs. I would still by consoles because I love console gaming, but It wouldn't be the same.
Thoughts?
