Do you think developers expected more power in the ps3/ 360?

heres a footage of madden next-gen when released in 2005
http://youtube.com/watch?v=dxyTUaqm2GU

the developers said that the game would look even better than this.
no madden has yet come close to that standard and i doubt it will.
this was wanna the first footages of next-gen gaming.
looking at it, i wonder if madden doesent look like that due to technical limitations.
i wonder if developers actually thought that the ps3/360 would provide more ram/ video to allow this kinda graphics.
Overall i am underwhelmed by graphics.
the jump for ps1 to ps2 was a wow, the one from ps2, xbox - 360/ ps3 is a meh.
hell, i thought crysis was gonna be a given when it came to graphics this gen, not the top peak of it.

PS3 has plenty of power. The 360 might be lacking though.

So you are basing this off of EA?

I knew when I saw that footage that that was not going to be possible on hardware this generation. Probably not next gens either.

maybe if the consoles had 1gb of ram something close to that could be possible, but those kind of graphics are pretty unachievable by this ge consoles.

I really dont think so..It seems that they are just grasping at the PS3's architecture, and 360 games continue to look better and better.

Yeah sure that why all multiplats are better on ps3  and the exclusive took almost a year to look comparable with 2 years old xbox360 games.

The PS3 can still be vastly improved in terms of power. It's all up to the developer to use it. The 360 is near it's peak, It has lots of power, but it's reaching it's capacity.

games so far havnt used only about a 3rd of teh cells power.
but i dunno how using the rest can actually improve graphics, maybe physics and ai but can it really improve a resolution limited by a graphics card.
