Graphically, Mirrors Edge looks like it could be done reasonably well on a Wii. That cell shaded look is a bit like No More Heroes, dont you think?

Yeah, ok, i take it back. I dont know what i was thinking. When i first played the Mirrors Edge demo,i was kind of taken back by the look of the graphics and the Wii came to mind, but i guess i just forgot how bad the Wii actually is...my bad.Videodogg
this.
thread ended :)
not a chance, since the unreal engine couldnt even begin to run on the Wiigerard-williams
[QUOTE="MojondeVACA"]Who cares the game looks horrible anyways.rogerjakI do not agree o.O
A decent version of Mirrors Edge could be done on the Wii...but would have to be designed specifically around the hardware and not just ported over and downgraded.
Half the battle would be in the level design... clever postioning of buildings to limit pop-up etc.
Frankly a decent version of Mirrors Edge could be done on the DS if you had a dev who would bother to make the effort....sadly few do.

But why do you think it's horrible?
Well, we have yet to see any gameplay yet, so I can't say for sure.
But considering it's a PS3 game...no.
goblaa
We haven't? What about this?
That and both PSN and XBL have had demos of the game.

lol, i'm feeling good today so i'm not even going to be hard on you for that.
Unreal Engine works on the Wii
woa I have to admit, that's bad..

Actually it's super-advanced. What the Wii is actually doing is a depth of field trick. It is bringing Spiderman into clear vision whilst blurring all the background to a hazy, blobby mess, what you get when you focus on a near object at the expense of far away objects. It does this by blurring the background and lessening the actual detail and definition on objects, thus mimicking reality.
That or it's a POS. Either way works.
no it cant. it would look like this:
superjim42
 The saturn could put out better visuals then that.

It's got a demo out, I've played it. It's not a PS3 game either it's 360, PS3, PC.
And it could easily be done. The only factor that's "next gen" about it is the graphics, it's an awesome concept and everything I'm not bashing the game I love the demo, but it's basically Prince of Persia style acrobatics in first person. It wouldn't be as breathtaking on Wii no, but it could easily be done gameplay wise.

Unfortunatly, a bad and quickly made one
Red Steel
I guess Red Steel 2 is using it too.

lol IDK man..the Wii and xbox have similar specs right? I don't remember spiderman looking that bad on the xbox.[QUOTE="Hoobinator"][QUOTE="killerfist"]woa I have to admit, that's bad..

Its just a crap game made by a poor dev team forced to make it in one week with a budget of peanuts.
graphically? absolutely not. they would need to cut it back quite a bit. maybe they could go for a look like the comic strip intro though...could be interesting.
however i think the concept and gameplay could work nicely on the wii. i saw nothing in the PS3 demo in terms of gameplay that made me think "clearly this needs super advanced hardware just to function".
the only other major problem i could think of is map sizes.

One of the biggest difference between the Wii and Xbox 1 is that the Xbox possesses more shading power. It's one of the single reasons why a game like Doom 3 or Riddick hasn't been done on the Wii yet. It's laughable but the shader technology in the Xbox is more advanced.

thought so.thats a shame..
Sure if you gimp the textures and draw distance or make the game look like that opening sequence.
But then we don't want gimpy controls either for an already crummy game.
that spiderman pic, is that from spiderman 3 or web of shadows? if i recall correctly, spiderman 2 on the gamecube looked way better than that.redmetal86
I think its from Spiderman 3, the game was intentionally made bad to reflect the movie its based on

spiderman 3. as far as i know, it was made for the PS2 and Wii by a dev with little experiece, in a week, for the price of a tin of biscuits. i believe, and correct me if im wrong, that the devs had a preference for a tin of chocolate digestives....but got ginger bickies, so they werent happy.
No it couldn't.
Plus they'd add some sort of motion control to it .. which to me wouldn't fit at all.
it could but the graphics would have to be gimped but if you went artistic like prime 3 it would probably look pretty cool.
maybe a mirrors edge game mostly taking place in the underground levels and only a few on the roof tops.
I mean look at the overlord for the wii, it is actually pretty impressive for the little white box that we did not think ever could.
as for better shadders on the xbox that is not true. they are just far easier to program. The wii has better shadders but we will have to see if anyone ever takes advantage of them due to there difficulty in implementing.
