They're basically doing what they've always done.
They're giving us the quality first party game we like. The only difference is that they're also appealing to casuals at thesame time..
Nintendo has what, WiiFit, WiiMusic, WiiPlay, and WiiSports those are its casual titles , they all turned out 6.5 or better (cept play)
Sony releases 15 singstars or buzzes on PS3 and they don't get attacked on here for some reason (no literally like 8 singstars for ps3 and like 4 buzz games on PS3! really!)
Lets look at the software:
Punch Out (8.5), Wii Sports Resort (8.0), Battalion Wars 2 (7.5), Super Mario Galaxy 2 (9.5 GOTY has Sonys own studios delivered a GOTY on PS3?), Super SMash Brawl (9.5), Mario Kart Wii (8.5), Metroid Prime 3 (8.5), Twilight Princess (8.8), Super Paper Mario (8.8), Excitebots (8.0), Fire Emblem (6.5), Animal Crossing (7.5), Wario Land (7.5)
Additionally New Super Mario Bros Wii, Pikmin 3, Metroid Other M, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Zelda Wii, Sin and Punishment 2, Cosmic Walker, Dynamic Zan all in 2010 or 2011
So yes they are doing enough. They've delivered a lot of great software from them and the studios they own or fund or have outsource development to
To be fair, nintendo doesn't make games for casuals or hardcore gamers
they make games for everyone, something the games industry seems to have forgotten

This.
Though some new IPs would be nice (so long as "Wii" is not in the name), or a sequel to Eternal Darkness for Christ sakes.
That "at the same time" should be a " more".They're basically doing what they've always done.

Nintendo havn't really ever been for hardcore gamers as such, mainly arcade games. Plus with the wii's controll system there isn't much they can do for harcore gamers. So to be honest i'm not expecting nintendo to bring out a new 'hardcore' game for the wii. Although the wii does have some awesome games, like super smash bro's brawl and mario kart.
[QUOTE="boredy-Mcbored"]Yes but nintendo should make dev. do more and make more games, even if it means paying more case.Nintendo? Yeas.
Other 3rd parties? No.
bcroger2
Yeah, the industry doesn't work like that. Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft don't go up to Third parties and say "hey, stop making poor quality games!" It is up to the developer to follow guidelines set down by Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. As long as developers follow these requirements, the game gets released on the system. These are not game quality requirements though since they aren't the developer, they are technical requirements to make sure the game functions properly on the system. The only time a company like Sony, Nintendo or MIcorsoft have ANY say in how a game turns out from a development standpoint is when they are actively involved in the development as a first or 2nd party.
No. The problem isn't that they aren't doing enough for hardcore gamers. The problem is like always Nintendo isn't consistent with releases. Wii's library is basically Gamecube's library with some casual games. This is why no one really complains about Sony releasing all those Singstar and Buzz games. Unlike Nintendo, Sony is consistent with the number of game releases a year which satisfy the core gamer.
NO. defenably not. Almost all its games have a casual feel to them
for example:
mario galexy is compatable with a second remote so mother and son can play. mario kart has super powerfull power up's, so non-gamers can have fun without beening good.
Funny how we have almost the same username...
No matter how hard they try, they can never please the fans. There will always be something for them to complain about.
Someone who invest alot of time effort and love into gaming, someone who cares about gaming as more than a passing hour of fun, someone willing to try out different experices of gaming to broaden their libraries, someone who consideres gaming their hobby and has a relative ammount of knowlegde on the subject, someone who buys more than 1 game a year, somone willing to invest a large amount of time into a game, someone looking for an expericence that is not just shallow but does not rule out the fun.How do you define "hardcore" gamers?
mitu123
Someone who would rather play Jet Set Radio Future/ Dead Space/ STALKER/ Portal than Army of 2 or Mario and Sonic at the olypics. Someone who gives a dam. Somone who has played enough games in diffeent genres to know what a good one should play like. Someone who knows gaming can effect you in profound ways and is not just a transient thing.
Someone like you and me.
They released 11 or more hardcore games in the past 3 years. wii sports, wii music, wii fit, wii play are all together only 4 games but yet people make a big deal as if those are the only games nintendo makes. Its not nintendo but but the thrid party developers. Why should nintendo carry all the burden of making hardcore games on the wii? Shouldn't the third party developers also make hardcore games on the wii too?No. The problem isn't that they aren't doing enough for hardcore gamers. Looking at what they put out so far I'd say no .... sequels are fine , but come on now.
Everything else great has been pretty casual , and their best new IP has been ExciteBots Trick Racing , lol. It's ok I guess.
NEW IPS , please .... please .... please!
Does it honestly matter? Are you playing games to be hardcore or are you playing them for enjoyment? Shouldn't the question be, iis nintendo doing enough to please me since we are all different in SW and will have different levels of satisfaction from different things. There is no answer to this question people.
List wars time. This gen, Wii only.
Upcoming games
Uh.... every company makes sequels, only thing that matters is if the games are good and for the most part Nintendo has released very high quality games. That much being said I voted no on the poll, Nintendo hasn't tried to establish a quality FPS experience on their consoles since N64.... that's very sad considering it's one of the most popular genres out there, if they'd do that there wouldn't be nearly as much complaining.Looking at what they put out so far I'd say no .... sequels are fine , but come on now.
- Mario
- SSBB
- Zelda
- Metroid
- Punch Out
- Paper Mario

No. The only thing they've done for hardcore players(that has quality) is probably SMG and Brawl. I'm still waiting on that Zelda. Also, where the Hell are the new IPs?
Tact of Magic (New IP)I love how everyone ignored this post and complained about no new IP's. But I guess they don't count because we've never heard of them.Dynamic Zan (New IP)
Cosmic Walker (New IP)

Nintendo is doing lots of stuff, and I'm sure they think a lot of it is exactly what the hardcore gamers want, but imo they are not doing the right stuff and the stuff they are doing they are not doing quite right.
Example: They eventually give us voice chat, and we all really wanted that, but then they simply don't support it at all (I mean there are like 2 1st party games that use it) and it's a kind of strange version of what most hardcore gamers would have liked.
I know they think they are apeasing the hardcore fans but I often think they are just patronising us by giving slightly gimped half arsed more casual focussed solutions all the time and then not really supporting them anyway.

Funny, because the majority of quality games aren't well known.
I just think it's not easy to really develop a game to cater to casual players and hardcore players at the same time, unless you're talking easy-hard modes... They need to focus on one or the other when developing a game >_>Nintendo is doing lots of stuff, and I'm sure they think a lot of it is exactly what the hardcore gamers want, but imo they are not doing the right stuff and the stuff they are doing they are not doing quite right.

That's your opinion. That's not necessarily true, especially when it comes to something like production values and story. High quality games are generally well known, especially to a hardcore fanbase such as Gamespot. Please Log In to post.
