Do you think people who claim to have a system but still trash on it are honest?

We've all seen it. "Yeah the Wii/360/PS3 is garbage. I know what I'm talking about because I own one despite always talking bad about said system."

Do you believe them? I mean I can understand having problems with a system you own in fact all systems have little quirks that bother me about them but I doubt it when someone claims to own said system when arguing about why its worse than Hitler.

I'm not trying to argue what system is the best but I don't understand how you can own ANY system and not find SOMETHING you like.

probably 50/50. you wouldnt think that i had a wii as much as i trash it sometimes. when i say i had a 360 but hate it people ask me all the time. the only way i can prove it is for them to look up my gamertag (deuskai32). i just think the PS3 is the system to have and the wii is there for something different every once in a while. but nintendo is really starting to make me mad.

Since I usually own all the systems each gen, I tend to like the ones with the best games or the ones that I like the most. Im not sure if that makes me a fanboy or not, but I just want to play good games.

however the ones that trash on 360 and PS3 I find a bit harder to believe, especially when they cant even come up with any good aspects of the systems to state. No system is exclusivly 100% bad.

There some people who actually go out of their way to buy a system so that when they bash it on SW they can say "well I have X system, so I should know!" and thus they can have "street cred", or atleast thats what I believe. There are a few such users I know of who fall into this category, but this is SW, not fanboy wars so I wont mention them :PII_Seraphim_II

I have a 360 and Ps3 but I tend to bash the ps3 more. The controls for most of the games feel pretty bad imo but I think I just prefer the analogs on the 360. Also for some reason I did not like Killzone 2, MGS4or R2 at all, did not even bother to finish them. I had fun with multiplayer though for R2. I did like R&C, Infamous and few others though. Also deep down inside I want the 360 to beat the ps3 but I think it is just my American pride.

i concur. lots of people bought the wii cuz it was popular and cheap and now they bash on it through retrospect. but with the 360 and PS3, you'd think these people would have done a little research to make sure they would enjoy the system before dropping some serious cash on it...

most of the people who say that kind of stuff are just full of crap, there are the few ones who will say that stuff and are truthfull, best way to tell is usually a level and post count and such

Actually there was a bit of psychology that I understood that even in war it was not uncommon for enemies to be sleeping with each other/

So this could be some sort of love/hate relationship for a fanboy to have towards owning a console.

However they inadvertantly support the console they despise by buying it in the first place. Big sales of console , encourages more games etc..

The only thing I can think of that is worse is people who PRETEND to have that console in order to debase it. Hence Fakeboysim!

I don't know why it's bad for people to put down what they own. Owning something gives you the most experience to actually have negative things to say about something. Owning it doesn't mean you have to wear rose tinted glasses when ever talking about it :?.

No, I really doubt it unless we get a Gamertag/PSN ID. Both are incredible machines, I don't see why people would hate the other if they own both. enterawesome

I'm usually here to hassle the Cows, and counter silly remarks here and there Even though I have a PS3 and several games for it, I lean more towards the Xbox360.

Hey its System Wars and I have also been known o give credit towards the ps3 where it is due.

I like the smack talk every now and then and I'm honest about it, however I'm not going to be some fakeboy over it.

At least with Fanboys you can respect them more because at least you know where they stand even if they are blatantly wrong at times, then someone who pretends to be fellow fan and is really just Fakeboy/pretender.

Just because you bought something doesn't mean you automatically have to like it. I bought a Wii, didn't like it and sold it. I have a PS3 and question Sony management decisions all the time. I have a 360 and love it, but I hate Microsoft as a company most of the time.

Also deep down inside I want the 360 to beat the ps3 but I think it is just my American pride.

LOL, I am absolutly amazed people seem to think the 360 is American. Yet on the back of %85 of 360's it says Made in China or Made in Mexico. Microsoft may be an American company but do nothing to support their country because if they did they would have built manufacturing facilities in America and provided much needed jobs in America.

On topic, I tend to believe most people who say they own x system and bash it. It's not uncommon to have a bad consumer exp. then let it be known. Take my exp. for example, $500 elite turned into a refurb 5 months later, unacceptable to me and well I think the rest is pretty self explainatory.

The Wii is the only console I own, and I've really become alienated from it with the utter amount of crap among the (very) few good games it has. Sure there's Monster Hunter Tri and Muramasa/Tales of Graces to look forward to, but the library 95% terrible, so much so that I can hardly justify my purchase with the games that I own (Brawl online sucked, Conduit was a flop, etc.). I haven't touched the thing in a year, my PSP and DS games being much more entertaining. I think I'm going to buy a ps3...

No, they aren't being honest. I figure there are two possibilities. Either they are being dishonest about having the system they claim to hate...or they are being dishonest about being real gamers. Either way they are not being honest about something.

yeah, I understand that. Actual Fanboys can be quite stubborn in nature and have a skewed view for consoles. There are times when I get ticked off with MS and the Xbox360 because I've had 2 RRODs, however it's the Fakeboysim that is really becoming obvious that urks me the most.

Have you ever noticed the odd thread. "I just sold console A, and bought console B" and "I'm glad I got rid of console a and got console b" or the usual hide behind another platform as an argument their respective console is not lacking and as well a lot of the times when an online game profile is requested it is rarely shown, and the subtle sales pitch threads that comes out one in a while.

I wonder if companies have actually paid people to sell or persuade people in forums to buy their products or bad mouth the competition.

Word of mouth is used as an advertising tool with subtle sales pitches and adverts, but it can also be used to reduce the competition with a certain process of negativity. I wouldn't be surprised that comapnies do hire people to persuade public places such as conventions and forums.

No but some people, (mainly fanboys) have set opinions about a console which obscure their true perception of something. If you grow up hating something, when you experience it, chances are, you still won't like it.

Of course. Just because you own a system doesn't mean you have to like it. When fanboys use the "But I have a *insert system here*" argument, that doesn't make them not a fanboy.aaronmullan

Patriotism can also be a marketing tool for sales as well.

"Buy American, buy Government bonds support our troops" familiar line in WW2.

Some are turthful and just preffer one of hte system they own.

Ive had someone call me on not owning a ps3, but then i took a picture and put my name with it and gamespot and they got pwned. Since then no one has questioned me.

Some fanboys dont own all systems, but some people who preffer ps3, Wii or 360 do infact have all 3 systems and just prefer one to the other.

Yep it's too bad people don't really learn from history. Without our auto industry (which is dieing fast) making %80 of our militaries heavy machinery like tanks during WW2 it would have had a completely different outcome.

Depends alot... I think alot of the people who claims to have a system and trashes it DOES have it, but it is just not in thier taste, which makes them more bitter torards said system.

Ive had a 360 and a PS3 (still has the PS3), but the 360 games libraryleft me wondering why I even bought it (I am an avid pc gamer aswell)

The PS3 gives me mixed emotions... I like it, and I want to love it, but alot of its games feels like rehashes of the PS2 era, and that annoys me alot, seems like Sony went from diversity to "old game-new coat of paint". I think it is just here in the beginnign tho, I keephoping that itll change ;)

Ive said it in alot of threads before tho, that there are alot of us who dislikes the high cost to have your game on the consoles, it is so high that publishers opt for more of the same, instead of taking chances, which in turn turnssaid console "stale".

Then there are the ones who claimstoown a console to seem more "ballanced" in thier oppinion, These guys ironically always claim to have the bigest versions of said system, in order to seem like they seen all the system has to offer... and I doubt alot of people buys the most expencive models if they are unsure how much they will like it.

Sometimes, it's usually obvious if they are just lieing.

I personally think my 360 is trash! It absolutly sucks without Online! I will admit though, when i did have it online it was very fun...just without it...it's boring as heck. You have to pay for online and the 360 is the hardest to get online so it's just trash in my eyes... All the games i like on my 360 are also on PS3...Call of Duty...GTAIV...Assassins Creed. I still never play my 360 anymore though. I would rather have a PS3, because it doesnt cost to go online...it's easier to get online...Ratchet and Clank is one of my favorite series and i miss it...and other good games that interest me! The 360 has no exclusives I'm intersted in. I'm honest. I named good reasons and bad reasons! I acctually played my 360 unlike other people who trash there other Consoles...Thats why i wouldn't trust Wii haters! They hate it, yet never acctually played it.

Depends really, I'm sure there's people out there who have a 360 but don't really think much of Microsoft or their customer support etc, and things like that, I don't expect everyone to love their system like their own child.

You see people who make blanket statements (like saying PS3 or 360 or whatever "has no games") and really it doesn't matter whether they have it or not since they haven't really pointed out anything to back up their arguments other than their own cherry picked game lists or something. You get people who just don't understand what they are talking about with the system (like saying "only the PS3 can do 1080p" or something to that effect) but you know they're lying pretty much as soon as they say that. Then you get a few people who can actually point out specific things (like pointing out that PS3 can't upscale some games etc.) and you can actually believe that they may own the system.

I bag on the 360 all the time and own one. There are things i like about it though or i would not own one.djsifer01
