I am an owner of a Xbox 360 and absolutely love it. By no means am I a 360 fanboy. For a long time i've been looking at getting a PS3. Yes, I know that the games aren't there yet, and probably won't be that way for a while, but I see potential.I'm just wanting to know what you guy's(and girl's) think that I should do.
When it come to the PS3 it is an investment, because it might not pay off in gamming goodness. Don't waste your money right now wait it will come down in price...
OK people why does everyone get so anal when people use the term investment in regards to a game system? He obviously is asking "do you think he will get his money out of it at this price point". The return on his investment isn't money in this case but gaming joy.

I plan on getting a PS3 sometime in the future However I don't buy into the "long-term" investment unless it's sometime worthwhile to use it in the here and now. This isn't a stock-option my friend.

its an investment in the same sense the other two are..dont read too much into sony's marketing ..they only say that so you part with the hard earned and that the ps2 is still getting games..
ive got one and its a good system plus i can aford to buy one easy..not many people can
however if i was oing to give you real advice i'd say wait until after e3 and some better games come out so you feel you've justified your purchase and the price you paying cos right now there arent many good games and some of those can be enjoyed on the 360 which yuo already have.

Right now? Definitely not, too many risks considering the hefty price, questionable format, and crappy line up of games. Eventually however I can't deny that the PS3 would be a good investment, especially if Blu-Ray becomes standard.

i don't own one but the more i look at it the more i truly believe it will be worth it in the future. I simply believe that sony released the system too soon. The advanced technology of the system (blu ray) isn't standard yet. I think in a couple years when the price goes down $100 or so and the standard technology begins to catch up with what the playstation offers, as well as the games that are bound to be there (MGS4 and Final Fantasy are system sellers alone), i believe it will be worth the money. I laugh so hard when i read all these post about how playstation is dead and they will never be successful again. They may have dug themselves to deep of a hole to come out of in terms of dominating the industry like the PS2 did, HOWEVER there is no way any REAL and OBJECTIVE video game player can say after 8 months that a company like sony is dead. That's just obsered. Sony is like the Yankees of video games. No matter how many people want to count them out, at some point they will make their run, and in the end they'll be rightup there with the rest of the competition.

not many, people not care about high definition format. you know DVD is so popular because fuk so easy copy dvd-rom. I said it's priates copy. I heard hacker can easyc ode ablu-ray for download in PC!
Inasmuch as it's the best dollar value in this generation--even though it's prohibitively priced for most--then yes, the PS3 is the best long-term investment; I'm not going to go anal on your use of the word "investment;" I know what you mean. This is especially true when you consider the possibility of 360 meltdown.
But I'd just like to add my two cents to the Oblivion spinoff conversation. Aren't we talking about a person who already owns a 360? The fact that Oblivion can be played on 360 makes all the difference in the world. It means it can't be a selling point for the PS3, at least not to people who already own a 360. Or, a nice gaming PC. In either case, Oblivion may as well not exist on PS3, because gamers who own those platforms can already play it. That would have been like buying an XBox last generation to play the best-looking version of Vice City, when you already owned a PS2. Yes, the graphics are a little better... but not good enough to justify buying a new console.
