Do you think Rockstar would make GTA5 exclusive to the PS3?

For the love of god, no PS3 flaming, and no 360 flaming.

Anyway, it's basically official (from RockStar) that the 360 is holding GTA4 back, because of it's lack of a superior format and lack of an HDD standard. The PS fanbase (PS1, PS2, PSP) has given the franchise alot of success, and has always sold much better than it's XBOX counterparts.

So, since the PS3 has a 50gb bluray disc reader standard, as well asa 60gb HDD (soon to be 80gb) standard, do you think that rockstar would make the next GTA a PS3 exclusive? The only reason why Rockstar didn't do this last gen, was because theXBOX (unlike the PS2) had an HDD standard.

I think that Rockstar would do this, but only if the PS3 userbase was =to or greater than the 360's userbase. This, of course, would be by the time they decided to out GTA5 in development.

They said it was holding the 360 version back and the PS3 has it's own set of problems as well.

Of course GTA on the PS2 sold better than the Xbox versions, they came out at least a year earlier and more people had Ps2's!!

They will absolutely not make a Playstation 3 exclusive next generation. As a PS3 owner, I can only hope they make HDD and Blu Ray optimizations at the very most.

No, but not becaus of the fanbase on the 360 (it has a fanbase everywhere) but because the fact that production costs are so high that it will have to. I evenexpect a bastardized version to get released on the Wii (something like a GTA IV: (insert cliche' name) that will be a spinoff of sorts) just to keep the money coming in in-between GTA IV and GTA V.

Yes it should be a PS3 exclusive or the Xbox should just get a version with way less content because it's pissing me off so much that the 360 is making this game like a last-gen game. It's going to have less content than San Andreas and that is just plain rediculous. If it was a PS3 exclusive then it would have more weapons, more cars, more customization, and a really, really gigantic world to explore. But the 360 took my dreams and then killed them.

Yeah, and? I listed PS3 exclusive games, you know games built from the ground up to take advantage of Blu-Ray and the standard hard drive and they are no more longer than any other games on the 360 :|

Its not the lack of disc space that makes a game smaller, its the development costs. Its next gen, everything needs to be a lot more detailed than last gen. New gen doesnt mean that there's twice as much content, often the contrary. They probably spend more time modelling a car now than they did modelling 10 cars in San Andreas.

And its possible GTA5 will be PS3 exclusive, but then Sony would have to shell out a looooooooooooot of cash.

Just beacuse they don't take advantage doesn't mean the resources aren't there. Even the devs say that the HDD is a problem.

No.

There's far too much money to be made from GTA on multiple platforms for them to abandon that for the sake of invisible 'loyalty' to Sony.

It should be noted that when a developer tells you how long a game is, they're usually giving you generous estimates.

Way to take being misinformed to a whole new level:

Less content than San Andreas? So I suppose you think the PS2, the worst hardware of last gen, is more powerful than the 360. How could the PS2 have more content than the 360? I shouldn't even continue but I will.

Blu-Ray doesn't magically add all of those things. If it did Uncharted, Lair and Resistance would all be longer games with more weapons, etc. These things cost money, and Blu-Ray has yet to show that it is necessary.

For the most part, your post consisted of "waaa waaa the 360 is allegedly holding GTAIV back because teh cell and teh blu-ray aren't standard!" Even if that wasn't just selective reading on your part (you should try actually reading the article this time), it would just be a taste of how the PS2 (once again: the weaker hardware) held back GTA and probably other multiplats last gen.

Here I'll explain, the 360 uses DVDs just like the PS2 and Xbox. So the space is pretty much the same. And guess what, 360 games have better graphics and sound, which takes more space than if it had PS2 graphics and sound. So that gives them less space to put content such as guns, cars, and the city in. Get it?

No, after GTA4 people would be expecting another GTA for the 360 and R* will bring another GTA to the 360 knowing there's sooo many people that own a 360 waiting for the game to be released so I say no GTA5 won't be exclusive to PS3

[QUOTE="wallpaper42"]Yes it should be a PS3 exclusive or the Xbox should just get a version with way less content because it's pissing me off so much that the 360 is making this game like a last-gen game. It's going to have less content than San Andreas and that is just plain rediculous. If it was a PS3 exclusive then it would have more weapons, more cars, more customization, and a really, really gigantic world to explore. But the 360 took my dreams and then killed them.PS3_3DO

Get it?

MS could in the future add-in HD-DVD drives.

Yes they should, then I wouldn't care if it was multiplat, actually I would want it to be then they would get more money to make the next one even better.

If loyalty to the advatage that is HDD+blu-ray proves to be good business, yes.

But then again, looking back at last-gen, Ps2 technical limitations didn't outshone it's userbase advatage.

In either case, if hdd+blu-ray proves to be such indispensable advantage, there might be a game or two exclusive to ps3, but cenrtainly not from GTA franchise.

*All that is assuming Ps3 userbase*attachRate won't surpass 360's in viable time*

I don't get it, how are those plain boxes more than the huge detailed world of San Andreas? I need you to teach me.

That was savage ownage. I guess maybe he'll think twice next time before he pretends to know anything about developing games. Good thread BTW, wish I had seen it when it was originally posted.

opposite day! PS3 is reality is only getting half the content that 360 is thanks to good old fanchised partners in growth plan.

The 360's holding the game back, yet they're showing off their game on the 360.
