Maybe it couldn't hurt. And they can get good advice to improve the service.

I'm sure Sony has more than enough ressources to solve the problem themselves.

If these hackers wanted to mess with xbL they would and could. Actually they have before, if not the same hackers but I know xbl market has been hit before. So the only thing Sony needs to do is stay on top of the situation and keep adding security to the system. Or maybe they could ask MS and MS would just tell them to not make it a open system and close it up so us ps3 users can't have added features such as Steam functions :)

I don't think Xbox live has been hacked before. I know individual accounts got hacked because people can be dumb and give people their passwords. But there has never been a global outage before due to hacks.

Yup. XBL to my knowledge hasn't been hacked in 9 years. People have had their accounts hijacked because they gave out their information including Windows Live ID (which isn't hacking).

In response: Yes, they could easily contact MS and ask for help.

To lengthen my post I was about to write how it would'nt make a difference and elaborate but I'm at a loss for words considering the decline of humanity.

MS's advice would more than likely be 'start charging so you can afford some decent security and better people so when something like this happens you can fix it in a timely matter'.

Well they are probably using Server 2003 from Microsoft so what would make this any different? Just means they wouldn't be the enemies we all depict them to be. MS probably don't even know anything other than their own software so if Sony use Linux based servers then MS would downright reject.

What is this I don't even...:|

First of all, if the online was a joke, why would they make people pay to play it, and second of all, it has less lag then XBL and almost the same amount of features (the only feature it lacks cross game chat really...) for no price...

Same thing I'm afraid. Windows Live is apart of XBOX Live. Also to add this is a real hack, not just some run of the mill ddos attack.

Online infrastructure ain't exactly MS's botique. Charging people $60 to access it, though, is something they're quite clever with.

Sony just needs to get more revenues to fund their network security, they can afford that by charging for PSN, which I think they'll make mandatory for the PS4.

Really TC, really? That's like saying that a guy being hunted down by hitmen needs to ask me for help with living a safer life. Just because he's being hunted down at the moment, it doesn't mean I'm a guru at living safely and securely. Those hitmen could easily hunt me down too, they just choose not to because I haven't p*ssed them off yet. Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta go p*ss off some hitmen :)

Oh, so you're just guessing? Anonymous tried a DDOS and failed, it had a minor effect. PSN is not down due to a DDOS.

Actually the ad's aren't random and 100% of the time those ad's lead to content on xbox live or video marketplace or lead to contests hosted by the advertisers.
