Do you think that PS3 exclusives are somehow flawed or held back by PSN?

(the following is being said in the most non-trollish way possible) I rented a PS3 from this place called Movie Trading Company. I rented all the good PS3 exclusives I was interested in. And I have been thinking this. I'm not saying it's true but just food for thought. Not many PS3 exclusives sell well but for the most part they're great games but when you get in the game. The multiplayer to ME is kinda hindered compared to Xbox Live. In the games I have played I saw people with mics but none of them talked. The teamplay in games like Killzone was totally out the window no one communicated and I found myself being shot in the back numerous times when my teammate could've simply said "Hey Man behind you" I'm not saying PSN isn't good over all but TO ME it seems... rudimentary. What do you guys think?

It took all my will to read past "I rented a PS3".

First things first... you don't have friends on PSN.

Second, PSN has allot of people who wont talk unless spoken to and if they really have something to say.... That's the way I like it ;)

And all your friends dont have mics and sat around waiting for you to log onto your rented PS3?

*sigh*

I knew I shouldn't bother.... oh well, this is my last post in this thread, thanks though.

OK... but me adding them them don't think that alerting them to my presence on PSN their friend? You don't think I called some of my close friends and told them " Hey man I rented a PS3 we can play tonight if you're free" But no being cynical came first before thinking about this.

Dude some people just dont like to talk online and tbh you dont run into that "hey look out" guy alot in ether psn or xbl. Most of the time people can be anoying and you want to mute them or they want to mute you or they are talking to thier friends in private chat.

Where do you get your info that these games don't sell well? If you're talking about active online communities, bear in mind that the ps3 has a number of high quality online exclusives that divide its userbase, and that's before you factor in your multiplat online games that are very popular as well.

Secondly, the psn isn't holding back any games, if anything Sony running dedicated servers for a number of their exclusive online games makes the psn the better way to play online games. I know what 360 fanboys might say, "that has nothing to do with the network, xbox live supports dedicated servers, and MS could run them for it's exclusives if they wanted to." Yeah, but they don't.

Teamplay unfortunately is something many dont understand... am not talking just PS3 owners but in general..

I'm a teamplayer and i dont really care about having most kills as long as my team wins the game.. so objective comes first... however (mainly shooters) unless playing with friends you end up mostly feeling like its everyone for himself rather than playing as a team..

Same situation with sports games, in FIFA when playing online, i still dont understand why many people play the team based mode considering they never pass the ball around or rarely do so..also i always end up in defence considering everyone rushes to get the offence / midfield positions.. there is the misconception that you only win by scoring, but hey scoring 4 goals and getting 5 from the opponent doesnt win you the game :)

Also its not a question of people not using mics, in all honesty i'd rather play online with nobody talking, rather than having the usual couple of annoying kids/people who sing, listen to music, talk nonsense or else make annoying noises..

On topic:- i really dont think PSN is holding back games

(PS:- sorry for the rant :P )

So they are hindered because they don't talk? Personally I hate talking to most strangers online, most of them annoy me.

That doesn't sound like a problem with PSN, but its users. And even then, it's not even a problem.

When it comes to team work, its the same on both sides. Everyone believes they are Rambo and they alone can carry the team to victory. Hell, its just as prevalent in PC games too. That being said, no I don't feel they were held back by PSN. Hell, Demons Souls is one of my favorite multiplayer games on consoles, and thats only on PSN.

This isnt a PSN issue. Whether or not people choose to use their mic has nothing to do with PSN or Sony.

I actually really enjoy the silence on PSN anyways. If someone is talking I usually mute them anyways no matter what system im playing on. Im not saying that one is better then the other. But im quite surprised to see how well PSN runs compared to live which Im paying a full games worth a year...

Actualy, alot fo PS3 Exclusives sell well. Selling 2 million copies is considered selling well. UC 2 sold like 3.8 million so far, MGS 4 sold liek 5 million ro whatever, and Resistence 1 sold like 2 or 3 million atleast I think. thats only off the top fo my head obviously.

personaly, I dont find palying games on PS3 to be ideal comapred to 360 adn live, but I also hardly play online anyway. So there is no way that PSN can impact PS3 Exclsuvies for me personaly.

I think the issue you're talking about has nothing to do with PSN vs XBoxLive. Blame differences in communities, blame the lack of a mic shipped, but PSN isn't keeping from people from talking to each other if they wish.

2 Questions:

Which great PS3 exclusives are you playing that didn't sell well?

Whatdoes your proposed "flaw" have anything to do with PSN?

As for the rest of your post, I find people do the exact samething on XBL ... can't say I've ran into the friendliest teammates that try and communicate about whats going on in the game other than yapping about off topic stuff. Most people on XBL use their mics for private party chats, and or swear as loud as possible about how much BS the game they're playing is.

The online communities of PS3 exclusives suck. Thats a no brainer. I dont think its the PSN service though. Im thinking its just the amount of time the developers invested into the MP ranking, match finding, and all the stuff that makes people want to get together and play.

And it doesnt help that PS3 games dont like to talk. Everyone on XBL has a mic and theyre young and not afraid to use it.

The technical infrastructure (because it utilises servers waaay more) means that multiplayer titles on PS3 can be far more ambitious than those on Xbox LIVE in terms of the number of players and scope of the maps. Great examples of this are Warhawk (32 players, with huge maps and flying vehicles), Resistance 2 (8-player co-op, 60 player competitive) and MAG (256 player competitive). Admittedly, lack of microphones holds back certain experiences, but if you're playing with friends, PSN is just fine.

I'm gonna tell you im too tired to read your whole post so excuse the logic in what im about to say if im wrong.... PS3 exclusives are not flawed because of PSN, Sony just decides to give developers most of the choices in what they do in their games, and 7/10 times the developers cut a few ends in the online portion because Sony doesn't require as much as MS does for Xbox Live, which is good for developers, bad for us in some cases.
