Do you think the battle between Gears of War and Resistance will continue?

Back in '06 GeOW and R:FOM were released no more than a few weeks a part, sparking huge battles betweens fans. Come '08, the SAME exact thing happens. More battles commence. Do you think this will continue in 2011? It would be cool if Epic and Insomniac kept with tradition.

After getting my gaming PC I totally forgot about generic story, shooters like those. I mean besides GOW 3 and FF13, Versus, and Agito, AND The Last Guardian.

I won't be touching those.

I hope so! I just hope Epic improves the online multiplayer. They did fantastic work with the campaign. There were weird story points here and there, but it was a blast. Resistance 1 was better across the board for me than Resistance 2. Insomniac must redeem themselves.

Gears won't be around until next gen anyways. MS doesn't own Epic, they have no jurisdiction on Gears 3.

Gears of War 3 will be out on the 360, but I don't know if Microsoft will try to sell Gears of War 3 this year. Although Halo Reach in September and Gears of War 3 in November sounds like an epic 1-2 punch. It's essentially targeting a similar audience. They need a running mate for Halo Reach that isn't trying to aim for a similar audience for the holiday run. It needs to be able to attract a different audience. Not sure if Fable 3 is that title. jg4xchamp

I don't recall any such battle.

Gearsscores more, sold far more, is far more popular, looks far better, plays far better ... and is in general a much better game

Resistance is a generic Halo wannabe, far overrated too.

Gears felt better but I preferred the SP campaign and MP of Resistance.

Depends on the title. A game is more then the sum of its parts. Uncharted brings nothing new to the table, yet i wouldnt call it generic. There's nothing out like it.

Dragon Age is never considered generic, yet it's very similar to past bioware titles. the fact that they're not common, stops it from being generic

One is a FPS, the other a TPS.
One focuses on huge battles and large scale, the other on small and brutal battles.
One is on the PS3 the other on the Xbox 360... there is our problem...

I didnt realy like Gears so much for no particular reason. Resistance was preaty nice cuz it was like a blast from the past, with lots of weapons available at once and more PS2y graphics. It felt like playing MoH:AA for the first time :D

Resistance 2s COOP is a blast tho...
