Do you think the battle between Gears of War and Resistance will continue?

Ialways found Resistance to be boring when compared to Gears of War. But on the other hand, they are 2 completely different games

nah, Gears 2 and Resistance 2 both kinda under-delivered and unless Resistance 3 is delayed to fall 2011 the two won't be coming out against eachother

Well gears is a better game gameplay wise. But resistance is better on the technical side, where its actually always been playable and was never a glitchy broken mess like the first two gears were online

After getting my gaming PC I totally forgot about generic story, shooters like those. I mean besides GOW 3 and FF13, Versus, and Agito, AND The Last Guardian.

I won't be touching those.

Perfect example of the PC elitist attitude. Understand, kid, that not everyone can afford to shell out huge amounts of money for a gaming PC. And to be honest, if you have just gotten your PC, you are arriving a little late to the party. don't put the nose so far up. PC players are starting to pigeon hole themselves into a snobby role.

so far it's 1-1-0 Gears is winning.

both are undoubtedly going to be announced sometime this year and will no doubt be outstanding games

Gears already destroyed Resistance a long time ago.

Note taken. I love my Western games. So I have to ask what you consider generic then.

Gears has executions, active reloads, was the first to have a very good cover system... was the first to let you pick up your enemy and use them as a shield vs gunfire. correct me if I'm wrong.

The only thing generic about Gears is its cast of characters. I havent played Resistance enough to know if it brings anything new to the table... the 1st game seemed to be pretty generic.

Well if we are just going by Gamespot, Gears 1 beat R:FOM, but Gears 2 tied with Resistance 2. So really, the Gears series isn't as far ahead as you think. And these series pretty much are rivals. Not only were the fans duking it out, but Cliffy B. and the head guy of Insomniac also were swapping some "comments" on eachother's games. You are in denial if you can't see that there was tension between these games. But yeah, if you bring in overall critical reception, sales, and popularity, Gears pretty much does crush Resistance. Personally I have always felt that gears had the better single player experience, but Resistance has always trumped it in multiplayer.

It'll continue alright.

Resistance 2 has better co-op, but gears 2 has horde mode.

Resistance 2 has some of the best co-op I've ever seen, and horde mode reminds me somewhat of serious sam (except gears has cover and is a TPS), arguably one of the greatest shooters of all time.

Every game genre has its own set of cliches (Tolkien-esque fantasy RPGs, anyone), flaws, horrible and forgettable characters (like Bethesda's current gen RPGs), and equally poor writing (sometimes nauseating like Two World's), not just JRPGs.

As for the topic at hand, I'm a Gears of War man through and through. Resistance 1 was okay, never did play Resistance 2, however. MS would not cannibalize Gears, Halo, AND COD (which they treat as a MS game) by having 'em all in the same year. Gears 3 will be saved for a year with no Halo, like it always is. Bank on it.
