No. Not even in the long run.
Sony has invested so much with Cell and all the R&D for PS3.....throwing all that away does not fit well, traditionally, in Japanese Business ethics.
i have a really bad feeling that it will, i pray that it dosent happen and sony dosent give up on it. i'm having a heard time about how it's going to become very good. i believe that if it dosent die off then it will come in third. :( I dont want that to happen, what are your thoughts? Im really looking forward to HS because i'll be able to buy it and there arent many girl role models in video games, so yeah, i cant wait for that one at least! Sorry for spelling, my first language isnt english.coldkill19
PS3 will be around for the next 10 years, get used to it. 360 on the other hand, maybe 3 more years. Wii even less than that,ironwarrior2
You're right. I recently bought another high-priced video game system on eBay for about $60. It's a 3DO. It collected dust on retail shelves over 10 years ago and it's still around - on eBay. I think they wanted around $900 for one when it came out. It was supposed to be an all-in-one entertainment center for the home. It failed because of price (and crappy games). Sony should've taken notes. Ridiculously expensive systems fail. The only difference between the 3DO and the PS3, for me, is I actually wanted a 3DO when they came out. I just couldn't afford it. Now I can buy a PS3, if I wanted one. I don't even want one, though. See you in about 10 on eBay, PS3!

do you have an idea of how much outdated ps3 technology will be in 10 years? , even the cell (at least this version that we see right now) will be fully useless.
anyway on topic it will last 4yrs at bestÂ

The PS2 is very outdated, 7 years old, and still the number 1 selling console.Â

you can't really compare ps2 with ps3 , ps2 had all the market share with almost no competition things are different now..
PS3 will be the last to die.Â

Sony already got 1 third of the handheld market and most third party support.Â
Â
And yet the DS sells a ton more, heck DS will overtake 60 million before this year is overÂ

DS is selling faster than the GBA, and will overtake the PS2 lifetime sales in japan very soon, and will pass 60 million before the year is up, there is no eating[QUOTE="Nitrosoft1"]im talking the entire handheld market... gba includedaxt113

Â
Simple math, GBA has around 80 million in sales (go look up its hardware LTD sales) DS has about 41 million, and PSP about 21 million
Â
That means about 142 million units total and 21/142= .148 or 14.8%
