I own and love my PSP, but i dont kid myself, it has a lot of sucky games, "meh" games, and PS2 ports

however lately it seems the devs started to pay the PSP more atention and started to realease some games for it

these are 2007 already out games and ranked by gamerankings and these games are all exclusives that scored at least 80% also some of the game are not on game rankings

Final Fantasy tactics

Jeanne D´arc

Syphon Filter Logan´s Shadow

Dead Head Fred

Crush

Ratchet and Clank Size Matters

Gurumin

Metal Gear Solid Portable ops

and now other upcoming PSP exlusive games that have a strong chance of becoming AA or AAA, ill just use gamespot links for this one

IfI recall the PSP has something like 60 something games that have scored like AA and above and the DS has like 30 something that have scored like AA and above so I think its save to say the PSP has better games.

It's been getting good games for a long time. It's just that half of them are playable (and better) on the PS2, and the other half, for some odd reason, aren't as compelling as their console predecessors and successors.

I never liked handhelds.

Ever owned on before I puchased a PSP last week.

It's finally getting some good games that pushed me towards getting a PSP instead of a Wii or PS3.

No it is not.

It has more games considered by critics to be great and above.. not necissarily the better games though. Again, option 3 won.. the number of AA and AAA games as given by gamespot does not determine which library is the best.

However, the PSP does have some great games.. there is no disputing that. But the system itself has some problems(loading times and controls usually, not to mention alot of its good/great games are on consoles, and are considered better there).

Yeah it's amazing right now. Seems like as soon as PS3 came out developement of PSP games exploded. PSP is now the perfect platform for epic games done on a lower budget.

God of War? Syphon Filter? MGS PO? Ratchet and Clank? FFT? These have predecessors, and with only a couple of exceptions, most of them compare negatively compared to their predecessors. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but because of their visual similarity to their PS1/PS2 predecessors, people are wondering why these games are not on the PS2 instead, where they could almost certainly play better because of better controls and graphics.

well the whole idea of the thing was the PSP being portable, as far as i know you cant take a PS2 with you on a bus

besides by that theory the nintendo DS shouldnt have mario, Zelda or metroid (which was a DS killer ap) because you can play them better on the Wii or on the gamecube

It has been for awhile, although this holiday season's release list is particularly good..what hurt it was the eight month draught following the launch, not the launch or anything after that point.

Also both Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles and Disgaea are currently in mid-AA territory on Gamerankings and Castlevania WOULD be AAA if Game Informer wasn't out of their minds and you know..actually factored in all the games there, etc. instead of being pissy about "ITS TOO HARD". Yeah, I'm a bit bitter about that one.

If you ask me, being "portable" is a gimmick. The truth is, most people play their "portables" in their homes, often in the same room where they keep their home consoles. The only people I see playing portables while traveling are kids.

Anyway, that's beyond the question. The point still stands that everything the PSP has could have been done better on the PS2, and people realize this. The fact that so many of the PSP's big third-party games have been ported to the PS2 reduces the value of the system, too. That's why it's only sold about as well as the 360 on a month-to-month basis, which is also in a similar boat (moderately expensive system, few exclusive third party games, direct competition and shared library with a superior platform, the PC).

besides by that theory the nintendo DS shouldnt have mario, Zelda or metroid (which was a DS killer ap) because you can play them better on the Wii or on the gamecubestika

No, you actually can't, because the gameplay of those games is radically different on the DS because of its radically different control scheme. You won't see a game like NSMB on the Wii, or even Zelda PH unless big changes are made. The DS, Wii, and GameCube all have fundamentally different control styles, which in turn result in fundamentally different gameplay experiences for their key games. The only DS that has successfully transitioned to the Wii is Trauma Center.

The PSP has always been having some great games, from the start of launch actually. The problem isn't not having good games on the PSP, it's the lack of real killer app sellers and system movers in the amount that the DS has for itself. That's the problem. It's competition has many titles that fling the DS's into nearby customer hands, where as the PSP itself became the shiny new multimedia machine for some people, and a paper weight for others.

I'm sure lots of GAMERS love to take their PSPs and DSes with them when they travel. But the world is not composed of gamers, and probably not even 30% of the PSP's owners are real "gamers," just people who want something to fill the time.

Personally, I only play games at home, even portables, because I prefer to read when I travel on a plane or bus. Or I work, if it's a long trip.

Well it seems like it's getting better games, but I'm actually not interested in 90% of those games. Of that list I'm only interested in Dead head fred, and the God of War game. Also any DS fan can mention the slew of DS titles coming out soon also. So sure the PSP is getting better, but so is the DS and at this pace it'll never catch up

Its always had great games, but casual crap sells, like Brain Age.
