Well for one we got online multiplayer which is awsome. We can chat to friends and play against other people. So do you think this is the best gen of consoles?

In some way, every gen is better than the one before it. Obviously visuals and sound comes to mind when talking about the gains each gen, but the ability to find out about new games is easier each gen.

Every gen there is a swamped genre, so that hasn't really changed, just which genre it is has changed. I guess the influence of the internet on this gen is higher than it ever has been, at least it feels that way.

I've enjoyed the games this gen more than any other before, but this is the first gen my primary system is a Sony one, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I had a ps2 for a much longer time than I had an Xbox last gen, but played the Xbox more for some reason. Probably had to do with having the GTAs on it.

Depends of the area. If you're into shooters, this gen is heaven. If you're into wRPGs, it depends if you're into the archaic wRPGs (Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate, Fallout 2) or the new wRPGs (Oblivion, Fallout 3). Sports & Racers are better this gen. I don't know too much about Platformers, but it seems most people prefer the older Sonic & Donkey Kong titles, but we have SMG, Super Meat Boy, Limbo, Braid, LittleBigPlanet this gen. There are plenty of great puzzle games, especially on the handhelds.

TPS now has Gears of War, Vanquish & Dead Space, but speaking of Dead Space, I think horror fans tend to think older titles are the best in the genre. For action titles, which rely on gameplay, I'd say this gen has been best in that department also. I thought GoW 3 was better than the other entries (GoW 2 perhaps had more variety though), I preferred DMC4 to DMC3, & there's now the Uncharted & Assassins Creed series, as well as Bayonetta.

Unfortunately for me, jRPGs have been lacking this gen. There have been some awesome gems, but this generation doesn't even compare to the PS1 & PS2 days in the jRPG department, which both had jRPGs that were quality & in quantity. Overall, I think this gen in general is an improvement when getting past the nostalgia, though in the jRPG department, I miss the the past few gens.

Then again, this gen isn't over, & many great games were released near the end of the past generations life cycles.. & I haven't played too many of the Handheld jRPGs, which may close the gap.

This Gen can dop backwards compatability either via hardware, XBL, PSN, Virtaul console or HD remixes.

so you are covered for missing out on games from the past.

online has pretty much become standard and this generation has still a lot to give with motion controls, 3d, DLC, anticipated sequels and retro game wishes.

Antoher thing this generation has not reached saturation point and is said to going to be the longest generation so far.

-devs can spend less time learning new things and finding making creative games and gameplay.

-gives time for more people to get into the back log of missed games this generation and getting them at bargain prices

(In addition to getting new games I'm getting good value by purchasing games like Assasin's Creed, Gears of War 2, Prototype amd Shift at good prices)

Not for me. Back when I had a NES, SNES, and Genesis, now those were the happiest of gaming times to me. In some ways though I am enjoying this gen more than last. I'd say I'm happiest with the handhelds this gen though, much more so than the consoles.

Its better than last gen but its hard to call it when we are still in the tail end of this gen, once its over and the dust has settled we will know for certain I think. All I know is I have a hell of a lot of games left to play and I have already played some amazing titles, I have never known this much variety for those actually willing to look for it.

no. PS1 was the best gen. most games out now were invented back then. they pretty much just got a graphical update.

online gaming is cool, though.

It has been a good generation, but is it better than SNES/Genesis or PS1/N64 or PS2/Xbox/GameCube?

RPGs are pretty much my favorite genre, and the PS2 had so many of them, was like in heaven, this gen pretty much sucks for console RPGs, so I go with last-gen being better. Not sure if I'd call last-gen the best, but I liked it more than this gen. This is still an awesome generation though, it may be lacking in RPGs, but it excels in like every other genre.
