there are 2 reasons why i dont want battlefield 3 to sell more than cod.

1. the players: i am sure battlefield will attract alot of cod players but i hope they stick to team deathmatch because i am sick ofpeople who dont use teamwork in conquest and rush. i honestly dont want annoying little kids screaming down the mic like they do in cod.

2. ea is evil 8) : just like activation if ea becomes the market leader they will introduce redilicious stuff to the world of gaming and will milk to death. ea reminds me of microsoft they are good if they are playing catch up but if they are on top the will do little to no innovation. ea has done well in the last few years but are now again starting to show there true colours.

i hope battlefield 3 doesnt sell more than cod, what do you think?

I'm going to support them both equally by not buying either, so I don't have any desire to see one do better than the other.

Not interested to be honest on which game sell more, i know for sure i'll stick to MW3 as a day 1 purchase as there is no FPS out there that is as addictive in online as CoD. BF3 will get down the line.

no. let all the kids play all the CoD they want, while the big boys play Battlefield.

but man, dare i say that shooter from the past are better? they did not strive for realism. look at the MP of Half-Life, Unreal Tournament, Ricochet, Quake 3 Arena, even Counter Strike was arcadey (no, im not talking about Source. im talking about the original badass CS that Valve copied).

I don't care either way, EA probably has wet dreams of Battlefield taking CODs place. If EA had the chance they would milk Battlefield just as much as COD, so one company is not holier than another.

They are already releasing it every year, well kind of :P. EA confirmed MoH to be every other year so next year we get the next MoH then BF also every other year which means the year after MoH we see the next BF or the next BC and so on. basically also every year just like CoD.. in the end both are exactly the same games. go online and shoot stuff! i started with CoD and will stick to CoD. BF3 will be a buy but not in a hurry to get it. wont be as fun as CoD

Partly this.

I just want CoD to sell less because I'm sick of games being dumbed down so that even people with an IQ in the single digit can play it on autopilot and developers want to cling on that audience with massive copypasted games.

I don't really care about BF3 selling more than it.

I dont want them to sell more because im sick of devs like DICE tailoring their game formulas for the casual shooter crowd. It hasnt worked for anyone so far. KZ3, Socom 4, Bad Co 2, Medal of Honer...none of them have come close and several have sold worse than previous entries. Im not necessarily wishing bad on any studio. I would just like the devs to finally learn the lesson that COD is COD and the best at what it does. They can try to copy it all day long, but it will be on top until it burns itself out. They are better off just sticking to their own formula and being a change of pace instead of a copy cat with a twist.

Not really. I could do without the screaming 12 year olds. There would also be yearly releases if it sells anywhere near the number of blackops sales.

Wow, didn't expect a new MOH after the subpar reviews of the last one (I thought it was actually a pretty good game, just way too short, beat it in 4 hours on hard without rushing through it). Definitely looking forward to them expanding on it, as it had a lot of potential, just needed to be longer.

And yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if a new BC came soon, though the story is kind of horrible and I really only ended up playing it for the online, so it'll essentially have to outshine the mp of BF3, which I'm not sure if it will be able to do.

As for sales, I still see COD selling more simply due to the way it can be picked up by a casual gamer while BF3 pretty much needs a certain level of skill (i can't stand playing conquest when your squad doesn't help you, even if you mark the objective and everything).

However, I think it's safe to say COD will definitely outsell, just look at the lack of commercials and advertisement. They trust their fanbase/reputation enough to not have to waste as much money on advertising, while BF3 seems to be getting more in terms of ads (whether it's straight up ads, trailers, gameplay footage, etc...). I just hope BF3 doesn't fall under all the hype.

I don't care...I'm not benefiting from either one selling more than the other.

I think it's crazy though that people are actually acting like BF3 has a chance to outsell MW3 though.

I can't say that i will support either.

EA has a really bad DRM planned, and it would take a zombie gamemode to save MW3... And guess what? Infinity Ward doesn't like zombies!

If EA is so evil then why is their game so different from BF2 with massive improvements from the engine to the modelling? Activision just pour on some shiny graphics and they are done, atleast EA and DICE actually do work on a new game.

I want it to sell enough copies to make a significant amount of profit, (as I hope for with all quality games) which it will. Couldn't care less about whether or not it outsells CoD, because it probably won't.

CoD will die off soon enough, but for now it's still the mega cash cow of the industry.

Biyearly releases, switching between BF and MoH each year would be just fine. Yearly releases for COD aren't a big deal because the dev time for each game is really two years. The Infinity Ward/Treyarch release model makes a lot of sense to me.

I dont really care which one does, but ill be playing battlefield 3. Every time i turn on cod its like a 15-20 minute deal before the rage quit.

Also, i have to agree with your players point. I was ecstatic after MW2 came out because literally 90% of the singer, squeakers, and screamers migrated to Cod, and left Halo 3, which has allowed me to meet some awesome gamers, and this fact continued into reach.

And It better not even be MW3: 21,193,421 and BF3: 21,193,422. I mean they both better be exactly at 21,193,423 total sales. :P

Don't particularly care. Long as both are good. Though I'm guessing both sell incredibly well on Consoles and I'd bet BF3 sells at least decently on PC. Which is saying alot considering it's steep specs and horrible Origin (DRM) implementation.

I don't care, I'm buying both anyways and both will sell like hotcakes anyways. I know EA certainly wants it to sell as much as possible, but if they sold 100 million copies (exaggerated figure) and CoD sold just 1 more, I don't think they'll be sad.

I just hope the money of gamers everywhere can go towards developers for making bigger and better games.

Personally I hope it doesn't since it would just make EA work harder for the next game. If they sold more, they'd start getting comfy and there will be less effort in sequels. I mean, I love the Skate games, but without the competition from the Tony Hawk games, Skate 3 was kind of... blah.

I mean, I guess I'm fine with it selling more, but I want CoD to stay relevant and continue being great competition because if not then we can all expect a bunch of cheap cash in sequels from an EA FPS monopoly, and no one wants that.

i am sure battlefield will attract alot of cod players

ghostwarrior786

No. This is simply what Battlefield fans don't understand. The two games are quite different. CoD is more of a pick-up-and-play type game (referred to as casual over here in SW, even though there are addicted nutjobs who play for hours and hours in one go) whereas Battlefield is a game that requires more time to be invested in it. I really doubt many CoD players are looking for that kind of game. I sure am not, for one.

Though I'll be getting BF3 for single player cause I want to look at the game mainly from a technological and aesthetic aspect. But not many are like me, and most CoD players couldn't care less about graphics.

And what's with the whole EA is evil thing? They're a company, and a company's goal is to make money. As long as they're not scamming customers, what's the big deal? If you don't like games that are being put out, just don't buy.

Gamers are already gonna buy Battlefield 3 like crazy, CoD sells like that because it caters to the casuals and the 13yr olds, so if BF3 sells more it means it attracted the casuals...and in a game like Battlefield, they are just gonna screw up the teamwork and camp the jets so they can crash them. It won't be as big a problem on the European servers as it wil be on the NA though, but still I would rather 13yr olds not playing the game.

I couldn't care less about either of them to be honest... Although if I had to choose, I hope BF3 kicks COD's ass!
