I remember a time when everyone was doing it and everyone was getting sick of the oversaturation of WWII themed fps games. Now I see that people would actually prefer games like COD to go back. Would you buy the next COD if it was WWII?

If done well it's one of my favorite settings, so sure.
COD 1,2 and WAW were all fantastic.
WAW was turrible. /ignored
Maybe if they went somewhere a little different with it, never heard of a game covering when the conflict hit Italy, North Africa has been underused and it'd be nice to play from a perspective other than US or Russian soldiers, the last game to do either of those i think was CoD2? Could a spy/resistance movement based game be done? Only The Saboteur has gone that route thus far.
I want more than just shooters set in World War II.
And I want more than just war scenes and allied fronts.
I'd like to see a stealth-action game surrounding the French resistance in the early stages of the war.
God forbid...NO!!!!
uhh how bout you respect our vets ya punk.
Ooops, apologies sir, did not expect you in these forums :/run away confused with shame!!!
das right baby...RESPECT
A return to World War 2 would be fresh since almost all FPS games of the past few years have been futuristic to the point where I am now sick and tired of futuristic FPS, so yes I would like to see shooters go back to World War 2, but I don't want only World War 2 because then I would get sick of that again as well.
I don't understand why FPS developers focus on only one setting for years until people get sick of it and then move on to focusing on a different setting exclusively for years until people get sick of it. Why can't we have variety, some games with past settings, some games with modern settings, and some games with futuristic settings? Don't oversaturate the market with just one theme until people become sick of it.
Since the Call of Duty franchise alternates between three different developers, if I was in charge, I would assign Treyarch to develop Call of Duty games set in WW2 or other past era, I would assign Infinity Ward to develop Call of Duty games with a modern setting, and I would assign Sledgehammer Games to develop the futuristic Call of Duty games. With the setting alternating between the three every year, this would keep things fresh.
No, and I don't want any futuristic FPS games either. I don't want any more FPS games for a while, the last one i'm buying is Black ops 3 which will also be my last CoD game.
If done well it's one of my favorite settings, so sure.

**** your opinion.
How about Civil War or some Medieval war games. Some first person, armor wearing, horse riding warfare akin to Chivalry but with a good story sounds enticing.
I'm due for a WWII game but leave CoD out of it. I still have nightmares of the horrid A.I. In their WWII games.
No. I'd prefer something that isn't ultra-modern/futuristic, but not more of WWII. Some Cold-War era skirmishes would be great, as it was realistically only a Cold-War between Russia and the US. Even something like the Second Sino-Japanese war, or the Korean war.
If it's more Call Of Duty clones, which regardless of setting, are interchangeable, not interested.
Something like Hidden And Dangerous? Great.
I could use another, COD World At War was a great reminder that the genre has more to offer but we really haven't seen much of it after that except maybe Wolftenstein.
I do, but not a linear fps/tps set during WWII. I've seen enough of this garbage, we need something new n fresh. As i've already mentioned, some kind fps set in the ww2 setting with rpg elements and a scavenging mechanic (search for food, bullets etc) is what i want to see from a WWII game, not run n gun for 7h in linear corridors.
HELL NO!! Don't you remember back in the late PS2 and early 360 days of EVERYTHING BEING WWII. How many different ways can we play the same SCENARIO. I remember it being a joke on X-Play and every gaming site back then. I prefer the futuristic/fantasy type shooters of today. It allows developers to create new stories that aren't bound by history books. I played COD2 and that's it. Anything else WWII seemed pointless as not only do I know the history of it, I already played a game involving it. CoD world at war was only good for it's Zombies mode/MP, never played the campaign with my zero interest in WWII after it being done to death.
WWII games belong in the past. It's been done to DEATH. I prefer Fiction over Non-fiction anyway, so the future looks brighter for me. Thats my preference, honestly I can't get enough RPG's based in Fantasy Medieval times. But then again, they can incorporate new stories. That timeline really only represents the weaponry and architecture. So the story, Magic and such can be different game to game.
I don't mind shooters like Wolfenstien though, they may be based in WWII, but they offer a fictional story. So I guess I will end with this, NO MORE HISTORICALLY ACCURATE WWII games. Let them be fictional lol.
Give me a ww1 shooter! Huge battles, Trench warfare, chemical warfare "what's this? Anthrax? Beh, just toss it over". Plot would be in the line of: you've escaped behind enemy lines after facing the gallows for treason (failure to commit to some atrocious act, or cowardice). Out there in no mans land you eventually meet an ex soldier from the opposite side. You realize you must cooperate and together make your escape from the Hellhole, with both sides of the war, curiously taking interest and spending greater resources to find you and bring you to justice... yada yada, should be good.
If it's more Call Of Duty clones, which regardless of setting, are interchangeable, not interested.

This. Hidden & Dangerous 3 please.
Not only ww2 how come there is not a COD based on the American Revolution? Or the civil war? Imagine the battle of Lexington in 1080p?
If done well it's one of my favorite settings, so sure.

Not really.
I agree....since most games didn't do it justice....it got old quick.
I like the futuristic setting more.
