Buy them every year, always look foward to the next.... I'm looking for one to best COD4, i have hope since Blackops was a massive step in the right direction compare to the disaster that was MW2.
Serious buying CoD games is almost as bad being suckered into buying the same Madden every year. caseypayne69Almost as bad? It IS as bad; Activision pump out a new Call of Duty ever year (MW3 is COD '11, Black Ops was COD '10, MW2 was COD '09, WaW was COD '08, etc).Lately they've been releasing each title in November to take advantage of the Christmas rush.
I still like to borrow them from friends or video stores to play the SP, but it's getting slimmer and slimmer with each edition, and I can often barely justify the cost of rental. Honestly, how different is that from how EA uses the FIFA and Madden licenses?

Because they actually add new things in each new CoD games. :oI know it's surprising but it's true.
Between all the games coming out in the fall (BF3 just embarassing it as in FPS from what we've been shown so far), and my reluctance to fall for the same trick for the third time, no. I always end up picking up the "new COD" thanks to temptation from my friends, finding it awesome for a week, then dumping it due to boredom and newfound flaws/balance issues. I'm not cheating myself for money again.
Also, with the way MW2's campaign went, I have absolutely no interest in MW3's.
Didn't know I was beating a dead horse. It seams activison has a lock on the casual gamers. The guys that own a PS360 and just 2 or 3 games. So since those casual guys jump on board, so do the hardcore to be with friends. I can't get people to play Killzone 3, cause all their friends and them are on MW BO. I've found, this gen I've played a WHOLE lot more single player, just cause I hate jumping onto new MP's all the time.caseypayne69
I've never understood the mentality that people who only play COD are casual. If they were playing another game only like BFBC2 or Halo would you still call them casual? What about only playing WoW, Starcraft II or LoL? Still casual? Probably not. So why doesn't COD get the same treatment? Oh because people don't like it. Yeah that makes sense.
I'll get it eventually. Not a day one purchase but yeah I'll get it something.

They add new things from version to version in FIFA and Madden too. Doesn't really mean they need to plop something out each November though, does it? It's obvious the franchise is being directed according to the business plan, and not the other way around.Yeah I buy them every year unfortunately. I try not to but all my friends keep bugging me to the point I break down and buy it so we can all play online. Stupid video game peer pressuretodd2r
lol tell them next time that if they really want you to get it, they can buy it for you. they probably won't bug you then :P
Why is their no option that says "F that S*** BOI!!!"!?
In other words I've no interest at all in buying it.:P
Absolutely I will buy it. CoD games are a great bang for their buck if you enjoy their various multiplayer modes. I've got hundreds of hours in all my CoD games playing Nazi Zombies, Spec Ops, and the multiplayer online. I haven't found an online game yet that I get as much life out of playing as CoD. Halo Reach was good but the progression system wasn't that great and I got bored after 40 hours of online play.
I am getting Modern Warfare: Black Ops next month so...
...no, I will not be picking up another Modern Warfare just after three months
(I buy MWs late as the prices are incredibly hyped up the place I live- big games usually come out at around $200 but end up $60 after half a year)
I actually enjoy the Call of Duty games. Its amazing how some people can develope such a huge amount of hate over something. People need to grow up and get over themselves. Its a fun game that a bunch of people enjoy playing. I dont see what the big deal is.

Because it's successful. Case in point, go to SW at any point in time after a big release or announcement by some gaming company and sure enough there will be a huge thread on how bad or crappy it is. You can't have any COD thread without a bunch of BF3 fans pouring in talking smack. Still, there are surely some COD fans who love to fight back just as eagerly and with as much, if not more animosity.
My brother purchases every Assassin's Creed, and I can't help but wonder at how similar they are to one another. I have difficulty telling them apart sometimes when he is actually playing, and have to ask. Many other games appear similar to me, such as racing games and sports games. Still, it is understandable that people get enjoyment out of products with only slight differences. Things often change far less than one perceives them to, but slight differences in the formula make it worthwhile for most (Call of Duty, Halo, Assassin's Creed).
It is amusing, though, that in this forum there appears to be a right and wrong answer to some when it comes to playing video games. Games are, in and of themselves, merely an entertainment product to be utilized during free time. I honestly don't see how there is a right and wrong answer to this problem; the problem itself (that there is a better way to play games, and that way is 'my' way) is actually entirely non-existent in reality.
I will be purchasing Call of Duty, just as I won't ever buy a gaming PC because I don't care about visual effects, just as I won't think less of someone who enjoys high-end visual effects and other benefits that expensive PCs bring, just as I won't claim my system is somehow better, just as I won't declare someone to be ignorant who enjoys different genres of games, just as I don't care if someone buys a new iteration of a series every year because they enjoy it, and just as I don't care on which system one plays games. These seem to be some of the most prevalent causes of strife here, and they are all absolutely ridiculous and do not matter in any way.
Games are just that: games. They are for enjoyment, and I really don't see a point in arguing over them. Call of Duty will likely see success, and there is absolutely nothing disconcerting about this fact.
I bought MW2 and that's the only one I've bought.
I played MW and liked it a lot better than MW2. I get a chance to play them all so I can be less ridiculous when I flame the series. My brother gets every single one. lol.
There was a free to play multiplayer weekend a while back that reconfirmed my decision to not look into MW games again. It gets all hyped up but the online is so bad I didn't enjoy even one minute of my playtime.
However, it was on PC so maybe I'm just used to playing good FPS games.
The last one I bought was MW2. The last one I played was BO. I regret purchasing MW2 and regret that someone else purchased BO for me. Both games are awful in every single area. The sum being greater than the whole would have to be the way someone would look at it to enjoy it, but that sum still comes up short compared to every... single... other online title available, even the most obscure and low budget ones.
Seriously? Did you seriously just point that out...seriously! :P I kid, I kid.Why do people always start a sentence with "seriously"? Do you expect us to think you're joking if you don't put that in there? Seriously, I see it all the time.

I'm only interested in the single player this time around, the multiplayer can weep in the shadow of Battlefield 3.
