Nintendo makes ALOT of new franchises...you just don't see it.Exactly.. they will make new franchises, and we still get to see Mario in the years to come. P.S. Fire Emblem isn't new. I think the first Fire Emblem that hit stateside was the 7th installment.
in the last five years we saw:
Pikmin
Animal Crossing
Advance Wars/Battalion Wars
Fire Emblem
Nintendogs
Brain Age/Academy
Drill Dozer
Wario Ware
In the Furtue we see:
Wii Sports(you know more are coming)
Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Disaster day of Crisis
Wii Music
Plus more I'm sure.....
