I think Nintendo are already making a new franchise, Project Hammer I believe.

Nintendo makes ALOT of new franchises...you just don't see it.

in the last five years we saw:

Pikmin
Animal Crossing
Advance Wars/Battalion Wars
Fire Emblem
Nintendogs
Brain Age/Academy
Drill Dozer
Wario Ware

In the Furtue we see:
Wii Sports(you know more are coming)
Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Disaster day of Crisis
Wii Music
Plus more I'm sure.....

Nintendo has actually been creating a number of new IP's.

in the last five years we saw:

Pikmin
Animal Crossing
Advance Wars/Battalion Wars
Fire Emblem
Nintendogs
Brain Age/Academy
Drill Dozer
Wario Ware

In the Furtue we see:

Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Disaster day of Crisis
Wii Music

Exactly.. they will make new franchises, and we still get to see Mario in the years to come. P.S. Fire Emblem isn't new. I think the first Fire Emblem that hit stateside was the 7th installment.

Niether is advance wars(famicom wars in japan), but they are new to westerners, so in a sense it's a new IP for us.

All of the above. Zelda, Mario, and Metroid are mainstays. And they're already making new franchises like Warioware, Project Hammer, Excite Truck (even if it resembles Excitebike), Animal Crossing, etc.

Both. Keep making Mario games (platformers and RPGs, but ease up on the sports and other stuff). Keep making Zelda nd Metroid. Bring back some series which have been neglected. And make new games.

Good thing they came too, I am hooked on Fire Emblem. Goddess of Dawn and BWii are my two most anticipated games right now.

I flew to japan back in the 80's just to play them, and i brouht back 100,000,000,000 copies, translated them, and gave them to everyone
