It seems that most gamers reject the motion controller, and recognize the standard controller better, and mouse supreme. Still, it's constantly used as an argument for why Nintendo is innovative, and why the Wii is a justified product. So.. without regards to specific consoles necessarily (since it seems they're all jumping on ship now anyways), do you guys actually like this trend?

Yes, motion control is great, and as it looks like, the future of the industry.

Only when it can create new types of gameplay. The wii hasn't really done that.

I dont like how inacurate it feels... I believe the future of games will refine it, but right now I can do without.

It's okay if it's done well. But I still prefer a traditional controller, and likely always will.

I will always prefer a traditional controller

I will buy Natal, but I'm more interested in the non-motion aspects of it. For example: user created content, video chat (built in mic unlike XBL vision), voice controls, facial recognition, etc.

It can be extremely fun and rewarding when used in imaginative and innovative ways that can't be emulated well by the standard controller. Super Mario Galaxy is a prime example of how motion controls can be used well.

As a standard? Like, if the Big 3 all released consoles centered around motion control? I would hate it.

I like it with one console.

As of now, it can be extremely fun, extremely frustrating or extremely useless.

Implementation has yet to reach a standard.

For the most part I like it though.

Without going into specifics, yeah, I love them. For one thing I feel they offer the best in the way of "aiming" on any console to date. Better than any analog stick, and almost up there (though not quite) with the mouse. And when done right, they can add a level of immersion.

Yeah they make games a lot more fun. Only time i ever jumped up when winning something was a wii sports tennis match. I mean, yeah.

That said You can tell the controllers have ways to go before being perfect. And so do the games using them. But we're slowly getting there You know, and when it works it is definitely a valuable upgrade.

It works for some types of games if it's implemented well, but for some other types of games, it'll never work. Fighting games will mostly like ALWAYS require a traditional gamepad. But for action/adventure, beat'm ups, puzzle games, etc. the Wii-remote works great.

It has some evloving to do. But it does add to the experience of some games. There is no way I would want marios spin to be bumped to a button after playing SMG. IDK why. It just kind of feels great swinging the wii remote.

I don't own a Wii but everytime that I've played one (Wii Sports, Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports Resort) I've had a lot of fun and walk away feeling like I want to buy one. I'm not sure where all the hate comes from.

Let me just expand on that by saying that there is no and will, short of a direct brain interface, probably never be a control method that works well for every type of game.

it all depends on what type of games. But if done well, which only a few companies besides nintendo are showing, it could be awesome, and could be a new standard... after all, though it lacks some buttons, it is still capable of being a regular controller. however, the problem is not enough people are utilizing it to its potential. classic controllers will always be around, but a new, innovative thing like the motion controlller really opens up a lot of options. just because very few have truly capitilized on it doesnt mean that in the future no one will.

you have to open your mind to it. It is offering a whole new kind of feedback. It is less precise but more visceral. It's also a great innovation in the the wii is not just a stunted pc for mass market like the other 2 systems. It is a console through and through

Well you can't exactly put a nice dollop of chopped liver between two motion controllers, now can you?

Actually I'm a little surprised at how positive the poll results are overall.

But that's time consuming. The more time it takes to make that delicious chopped liver sandwich, the longer you must wait until its goodness touches your lips!

Most gamers can't go back from HD graphics to SD...

For me, it's hard to go from the Wii Remote back to a normal controller.

I hate the wii motion controller because it doesn't add anything to gameplay, it only wagling or used as a pointer.

The fact a fan with wiimote wraped on it can beat a player on wii boxing show how the controller sucks.

The NATAL and arc I believe can be quite good.

What about Metroid Prime 3? Some of the door or lift controls are actually operated by pulling back, rotating, and pushing back in. You "throw" the grapple beam, then tug back whatever your latched onto. To me these actions feel quite natural. And then there is something about aiming the pointer and having Samus's arm cannon move with it feels more "organic" IMO (plus this seems more accurate than an analog stick).
