Does anyone else with a slow internet connection absolutely hate the PS3 with its constant updates. Just earlier this week I wanted to play Battlefield and I needed to do a system update that took nearly two hours. Now today I tried to play Battlefield 3 and I learn that there is a 758 MB update that I need to download in order to play which will take 3 hours on my connection. In all the time that I have owned my Xbox 360, I don't think I have spent more than 1 hour updating it compared to the constant long updates of the PS3.

it really does. i have a slow country DSL connection and the PS3's constant updating is a real problem for me. especially since a lot of the time the downloads fail like 60% in or whatever and i have to restart. it makes me never want to play my PS3. its why i still buy all my multiplats for 360, and almost never online for PS3 exclusives.

3 hours for 758MB? Damn.... that's about an 8-10 minute download for me.

Why should I upgrade my connection when it is fast enough to do everything I want to do other than PS3 updates? I can still game online with my connection and stream my baseball games online with my connection. I feel like it is a waste of money to spend more money on a better connection when it will merely shorten my update times on the PS3.

Yup, I have DSL as well, but I found the update downloads go faster on my PC then I just transfer then to my PS3 and update it that way.

I'm not a fan of the constant updating, but I also think the "ps3 has 50% slower download speed" is a load of GIGANTIC bs. There is ZERO difference.

No, it's true. At least in my case. It's not all the time, but it's certainly common enough. To say there is ZERO difference is pretty moronic considering they aren't the same network therefore there HAS to be a difference.

Fine. Negligible difference. I've had my ps3 and 360 on 3 or 4 different connections by now--there's next to no difference.

I have a fast connection, so I hardly have to wait for anything.

But I can understand people with slow download speed can hate the PS3.

I've had my PS3 and 360 on the same connection and the 360 CONSISTENTLY outperforms the PS3 when it comes to downloading content. Like I said it isn't horrible all the time, but I don't think I've ever seen a time when the PS3 downloaded something faster. And I've tested it more than once.

I have a 20 megabit connection with a PS3, 360 and PC all connected to it. It's not like a bunch of people are pulling this out of their ass, you know, like saying there is no difference.

I can only go by my own experience, and other people that I know personally. In this instant it isn't even brought up ever, because none of us notice a difference. Things download fast enough to not even warrant a comparison.

exactly. there is actually merit to everyones claims. ill put if this way if a ton of people are claiming the same thing then there just might actually be some measure of truth behind it. to say that the problem simply doesnt exist is both delusional and fanboyish...

About 4 hours for me. Your kind of internet connectivity is not available everywhere. You just have to be lucky enough to live in such an area.
