Does anyone feel that this is a weak generation?

Anyone? Each console seems to have a major drawback, the PS3 is over priced, the 360 acts like a launch console and the Wii does not have many great games outside the usual Mario, etc.

This is a very disappointing generation for me. Anyone who thinks its the best ever is either new to games or in denial

I dropped out of gaming last generation, only coming back for a few select titles.  This time around I managed to buy about 10 games on the 360 and a few for the Wii.  I have more games than I have time for!

this generation is the only one where you may actually need to buy at least 2 consoles to get a great experience out of it I believe. Yes I only own a Wii at the moment and its great but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm not gonna buy another system, games like Gears, etc have tempted me to buy a 360 this year and I only see a couple of good games that are coming out on the PS3 at the moment but I know that better ones will come. Because of this I am most likely going to buy another console by the end of the year when price drops and more games are out before making my final decision :)

The PS3 is high end new tech that just launched, the 360 has a rather nice selection of games (you need to like shooters but everyone likes the odd shooter at least no?) and the Wii is just out and has NO Mario game so I don't know where you pulled that from.

I think the people who don't understand how new generations begin need to stick with their PS2's or whatever for another 2 years, by then you will want at least one new console (or maybe all three).

Yeah I thought about that also, but the 360 has not just been released its been out for a while. The PS3 still has the high price, the fact that its new is not really an excuse.

As for the Wii I would agree with you there.

One year in, disappointment total. I mean, 2 of the consoles have only just released and 1 had so many great titles in one year. Nah, you guys is crazy.

it's a great gen for me. finally the graphics ar coming up to a point where i don't have to irritate myself about them. The gameplay is still great and improving and the Wii and Ds bring some nice innovative features. AND, you can still play the old classic games. i think it's the best time for gaming ever. i won't have some minor problems from having lots of fun playing games

Considering I play my DS more then my 360 and don't even want to buy the other two any time soon I would say yes. Even the Dreamcast was awesome in it's first year and things got even better when the PS2 launched and better still when the Xbox and GC launched. By the end of 2001 we were playing Shenmue, Soul Calibur, Resident Evil: CV, GTA 3, Skies of Arcadia, GT3, Halo, Final Fantasy X, MGS 2 ect. and these consoles all had reasonable price tags.

This generation I think is the best it has ever been.

I think the last couple of generations of consoles were for the most part a joke.  I haven't owned a console since Genesis and SNES.  I've been PC'ing since then.

But this gen, with XBL, Windows Media Center Capabilities, HD graphics, wireless controller, camera with web and video talk, achievements, buddy lists, downloadable content, the 360 has gotten back into me believing in consoles.

Best setup you can have, 360 (or your system of preference) and a PC.

PS3 has been a massive disappointment for me, and the Wii, well, it's not a "next gen" machine.

For me the current generation has been a little slow so far, but I'm sure it'll kick off big time later this year.

Me, I'm not finished with last gen, there's still plenty of games I'm after. Last gen was an incredible time for gaming, so many great games and best of all you can find them for cheap now. Just bought Max Payne for £3, can't wait to try it out (I missed it last gen).

Except for achievements those are some of the things I don't like about this generation. Consoles are becoming too much like PCs. I would prefer they just stay simple, quick and user friendly.
