Does anyone really think Arkham City is a GOTY contender?

If so, why exactly? The setting, detail, atmoshphere are all FANTASTIC, if going on that alone, then yes, easily a contender.

But based on the content? A short, basic horrible story? Redundent uninspired sidequests? It's a shame those parts of the game don't live up to the rest.

I think any game that scores a 9.0 or higher on GS has a chance, but if big games coming up like Skyrim, Skyward Sword and Unchared 3 score 9.0 or higher it seems unlikely.

Of couse it has a chance but there are some awesome games still to be released this year. I honestly think Skyrim will be GOTY.

Even though I'd give it an 8/10, it's definetly a GOTY contender.

The plot jumps from one villian to the next where it doesn't seem to have a good focus, it just feels like the overal story is to run around beating down criminals this time around, where the last time it was always about joker.savagetwinkie

Im gonna have to disagree with you on your view of the side quests. Everytime I started a new one I was always interested and strived to finish it completly. The story mode also I feel is far from short. Compared to some of the games they release now a days the story seemed like a long fufilling ride to me especiallly when youre working on side quests too. And dont even get me started on the ending of it all. It was honestly one of the best Ive ever seen. I was over come with so many emotions and I couldnt stop thinking about it even when the credits stopped rolling. Arkham City is the best superhero game hands down, and one of the best games in general in history I believe. This game will have a really good shot at GOTY.

I have read almost all the BAtman Comics and stories I literally have a room with only batman stuff in it and I have to say you are dumb. The story is great and the side missions are well side missions.

It's a great game, so I think BAC should be a contender at least. I haven't yet finished it, but so far, have to say that story is a little bit predictable. Okay, it is really predictable. I'm still enjoying it.

Well based on overall ratings it is the best reviewed game of 2011

[ I beat it, the joker was tacked on i think, and while the ending was good, i still think the plot was kind of directionless through part of it. Both the joker/huo were kind of an afterthought through most of the game after you got poisned and just went from one criminal to the next beating them down to get a cure. I think the story ended up being weak because the plot lead you on a tour of criminals just for the sake of showing some faces.savagetwinkie

I actually thought Arkham Asylum was better, the game flowed much better then Arkham City does and I felt more satisfied when I beat it, Arkham City ends so quickly your just like WTF just happened?

EDIT: Its still a really good game and will probably get a couple nominations, but as for me the only game I want to play the most is Zelda SS, EDGE gave it a 10/10 which has sparked my hype/interest even higher!

It has combat, stealth, and explortion all done at a level few other games can boast. I don't just think Arkham City is the game of 2011, but of the entire generation. A true masterpiece in video game design. I cannot think of one aspect the game is lacking in. It is without a doubt the pinnacle of the action adventure genre at the moment.

I think it is one of the very few games out there that deserves a 10/10 score. The game is extremely ambitious and at the same time polished to as near perfect sheen as any game ever was. I stand in awe of this game

Umm except that hugo was always kind of there an not really the problem, half the game you got side tracked dealing with the joker.. againsavagetwinkie

How that a spoiler? It was known that Hugo Strange was going to be a major villain in this game.

Horrible Story? Arkham City easily has one of the best stories in modern gaming.

Because the first one got GOTY and this one is even better, especially the pc version with all the extra love going into it from the devs's. Pretty simple to understand.

I honestly can't see how the story was unfocused.

All the villians, excluding side missions, are connected to the main story. They're not there without a reason.
