Because I don't, and frankly games without online multiplayer support should come at reduced priced, just like online only games.

I bough Half-life 2 not because on the single player story mode,no, I bought it because of counter strike: source and till this date I still haven't played the single player mode.I

was wondering whether this is common view or just minority.

Single player is the meat of the game. Online is just added fluff that adds to the replayability. In fact, I couldn't care less if many games came without online play.

I want to get sucked into a new world and experience what it would be like to be a god of war, a spy, a vampire hunter, a person trying to survive in a town full of zombies, etc.. It is through the single player that gives you this experience. Online is just running around shooting at things and yelling you got owned!!! Whoopty do.

Single player/story mode is probably the most important part any game. A good storyline might make multiplayer more fun depending on the game. Some games have crappy storylines, but really fun multiplayer, (like Halo). Single player mode would make a game worth buying. Multiplayer is a plus. Online multiplayer is onlya bonus.

I still do. Why else would Bioshock be my most anticipated game on 2007, not to mention what I consider to be the greatest game ever being mostly a singleplayer game with a two-player Super Melee mode thrown in for good measure?

Heck YESSSS!!! I hate the fact that everybody thinks a game should have some form of multiplayer for the game to be fun. If the game is not meant to have it, then don't force it in there just to say it's there. I also hate the fact that both Metroid Prime 3 and Bioshock will probably get some points deducted for the simple fact that they don't have multiplayer when they are single player focused games. I just don't understand why you would dock points for not having multiplayer whenthese gameswere never meant to have it in the first place.

like many people said single player is still extremly fun and important and for the most fact is what sells a game, but for some games such as WWII games and other shooters, those should just focus completly online. I want to see a PCand Xbox 360 owners( using live capabilities) face off in a WWII online only game, where there are 1000's of people playing in one huge war, and each month people get randomly assigned to each side and at the end of each month the war finishes and we start all over again. What an amazing game that would be, i'll create a post on it in System Wars.

The 360 would not be capable of rendering 1000s of players at the same time.

Heck, even souped up PCs would struggle.

This sounds a lot like WWII Online, only with an additional X360 client.

Yes, I do. Very much. Whether a game's single-player is good or not basically determines if I buy it. Multi-player is just an added bonus for me.

What?

Multiplayer is nice; both online and not. However, how can you rule out all the single player experiences that are out there? In fact most, if not all, advancements in video gaming are done in single player games. Metroid, Zelda, Mario, MGS, RE, Sims/Simcity, Final Fantasy, etc.

Definitely, competitive online games are far too hardcore for me to want to get into them. I'll play multiplayer with friends sometimes, but the single player aspect of the game is where I'll spend most of my time.

Single player is more important than multi-player, Multiplayer is the fries on the side to the singleplayer, not necessary, but makes it much better

It blows.

You are a serious minority then. When I buy a game, I want to be immersed in a new world, no matter what it is, whether it be a zombie infested village or a post-apoalypitc world invaded by underground people, I want to experience that. Multiplayer is great and all, but imagine if you bought Halo and Gears for only their multiplayer. You would miss out on so much. It's already mindnumbing how you bought HL2 for its multiplayer and not its single player when HL2 is praised as having one of the best storylines of any FPS.

Yeah, Like everyone else is saying single player is the most important aspect of a game and I still do care about it.Online Multiplayer for games usually doesn't last very long (unless its something like counter-strike, halo, or starcraft), so once you lose the community involved in a certain game the only thing you really have left is single player and offline multiplayer (console). Games like the battlefield series become a waste of money after the community is gone, but games like super mario brothers can be played forever.

I do, I think SP is the most important part of a game. Solid SP with good replay value can last me decades where as MP is usually a novelty that extends the short term life of a game for me.

I only care about single player titles, there are very few games I play MP. And when playing those there is a select group of people I play against.

Halo 3, for instance, is a game I'm buying mostly for the campaign. I think one of the only MP games I care to get for mostly MP gaming is SSBB.
