Does Final Fantasy drive the Playstation?

OK, I'll probably get loads of GTFO's for saying this but it feels like the Playstation brand is riding solely on games like Final Fantasy and MGS4. Many of my friends just want MGS4 and I can't mention the 360 without being given the evils. While it is true that some games become the leading platform sellers, Mario and Metroid for Nintendo's, Halo for Microsoft's and MGS and Final Fantasy for Sony's, but it looks like the Playstation greatly relies on its leading games compared to the others. I say so cuz I was so surprised to hear that the PSP topped hardware sales in Japan after being decimated by the DS for ages, the only logical explanation being the recent release of Crisis Core FF7...

...What will Sony do when we get to the final Final Fantasy? Do you think MGS and Final Fantasy are all that the Playstation's got?

MGS and Socom are truely the only reasons why I will get one later down in lifetime.

Only on the RPG side and there are alternatives there as well (not as good, but still at least viable).

Especially the addition of Evolution Studios as a first-party Sony has a ton of racing support (GT, WipEout, F1, now Motorstorm, and Naughty Dog can make darn good racers).

Their FPS/TPS support inhouse isn't half bad either, nor is their platform and action-adventure support both inhouse and second-party.

Point being, like I said..Sony is only really dependent on FF as an RPG not as some kind of sole platform mover.

What drived me to buy a PS3 was MGS4, Socom, GT5, Godof War3and the promising new IPs I keep seeing and hearing about.....Uncharted, Warhawk and Heavenly Sword.

The bonuses were free online, bulit in wifi, and blu-ray.

Final Fantasy XIII will be a huge driver , but the biggest driver should be Gran Turismo 5.

no way FF drives the playstation with its sells not that they are bad but come on FF games dont move consoles.

i would say GTA, MGS are playstation driving games because in the past gta games came out on playstation first and everyone had to have a ps2 to play but thats on 360 now so MGS but MGS isnt a real big system seller either

GT is bigger than FF and MGS. And even though it's not exclusive, GTA will push system sales.

Also, GOW and Socom seem to be gaining more popularity with each entry, and we now have Ratchet and Jak too.
