Is there a certain age that gaming skills diminish. Or is there a certain age that you should be "forced" to retire like brett favre? I don't want to, but I know its inevitable.

Maybe if you turn like 60 and have arthritis.

Gaming skills are based on hand-eye coordination.  Thus, any detriment to that would hinder your skills - such as very old age, loss of eyesight, arthritis, carpal tunnel...drunkenness.

From what I've seen and read, it's just l;ike any other sport or activity: You can still be good if you keep it up, but it will be harder for an older person to "drop out" of Hardcore Gaming and then "get hooked into it" again.

Hey, but by that time we'll all be playing games with our mind. So, arthritis wont be a problem.

Well, you shouldn't be forced to retire, but yeah, gaming gets painful.  I'm 26, and already, my wrists kill me when I play FPS with a mouse and keyboard.  Controllers make it pain-free, so I mostly play on consoles now (take that, everyone who says kb+m is ALWAYS better).

Hehe, i remember having sore thumbs playing with my PS2. If you play to much of anything, you always get problems.

I'd say teens are best at games. Seniors (65+) wouldn't do so well.

I think time you are able to devote to games is the most important factor. And that probably will go down in time with a job and family.

I'm over 30 and have way less time to play games now than I used to, but we look after a friend's of ours kids occasionally (16 and 18 ) and I completely cream them when we play - except at Madden. lol

nah gaming "skill" doesn't diminish until you physically/mentally can not perform. So until arthritis or dementia set in, you should be fine. My grandmother still games and she is in her late 60s. But I will say that your ability to pick up and excel at newer gaming mechanisms will be "affected" by age, but that is for all things, children absorb and internalize new information more easily than adults.

Brett Favre wont ****ing retire...hes only hurting the Packers...he doesnt have a chance to win...my guess is hes only hanging around for some records.....and the fact he cant give it up... he should let Aaron Rodgers take over and let the franchise take a new direction...

Yeah see my dad raised me into gaming and he used to kick my a** in kung fu and rc pro am. I want to carry on that tradition for sure with my son. But I have noticed I get schooled occasionally on Live by young punks and I don't know why that is.

I think You might have learned and adapted faster at younger age. But there's no reason to age anyway, so stop it.
(Don't worry about reflexes. I'm not sure game use that many reflexes but i know my master is old yet he still seems to be a psychic when sparring me.)

I guess it does a little because when you get older there's some physical problems that begin to show....but hey, I know 2 person over 60 years old that play ^_^ well...maybe not playstation but donkey kong country and other NES and SNES game and they're still good at it!

Wow does this post look stupid in retrospect. The "no chance to win" Packers ended up 13-3 with old man Favre, and The Favre led Jets coming off a 4 win season have a better record than the Rodgers led Packers coming off of a 13 win season.
