This has been a heated topic for many Halo fans. While the general overview of the game is positive, views are still mixed on how good the game really is. Fans are still arguing whether Reach ends the series with bang, or with just a little nice thank you note. Do I think it ended the series with a bang? I say yes and no. The single-player was excellent, and it was better than Halo: CE's sequels. However, it could've been better. While the environments were bigger than past games in the series, the battles are only marginally so. It just didn't convey the expression that I was participating in a planetary scale war, but in big skirmish battles. The weren't any 40 A.I. or 20 vehicles on screen at once as Bungie promised. Also, the storyline was weak. The characters were poorly developed, and the game was missing the somber and hopeless tone that Reach was aiming for. That component only appeared in the game's ending. The multi-player is incredible, and better than the previous games. However, the fact there was no space combat was a wasted opportunity. The game could've also had planetary scale sized multi-player, that could have rivaled the Battlefield series. The graphics do look great, but they don't push what the 360 is capable of, like Mass Effect 2 or Alan Wake did this year. I will say the audio is excellent, with good voice work, great sound design, and amazing music by Marty. Still, it's a great game. It could've been better though, to the point where it could draw people who don't like the series or former fans who were "Halo'd out". It's only great, to those who are still fans of the series. I say it ends with a little bang, with a thank you letter next to it. I say Halo: CE is still the best in the series, and I give props to Halo 2 for revolutionizing online multi-player for consoles.

Yes. It was a good finale for Bungie. I can only hope that 343 will live up to Bungie's legend.

Yes, essentially people could keep playing this game for years, it's a great package. But I guess it kinda' depends on when MS release the next FULL Halo game.

Definately, but I agree on your points regarding the lack of the feeling of participating in a planetary invasion.

It might be good, but it'll never feel like a game that Bungie created.

Yes. Reach is awesome, alot better than the rest of the series. I have already beat the campaign twice working on Legendary now and a warrant officer grade 2 in MP.

The SP is pretty boring for me right now. I can't comment on the MP as I'm not paying $40-$60 to play one game (or many) online.

I know, that is why I said Bungie's Halo. I'm not referring to the Halo series in general. Halo won't die, unless Microsoft dies. I hope 343 Industries doesn't screw the series up.

Sort of. Campaign was good, but not as good as it could have been, and MP maps are awful, and spawns. But it's still good, and still epic.

The only "bad" maps are the Ivory Tower remake and Sword Base. Everything else is good. Especially Powerhouse, which is one of the best maps in the series, imo.

Ight, review time. Zealot- LOL worst map ever. Kids go into low gravity, and camp up their while you lift up to them helpless and get killed like a baby water buffalo. Boardwalk-Worst spawns ever. So inconsistent and easy to change, its ither a stright up spwan kill, or a reverse spawn killl Countdown- Pretty campy, don't care for it to much, kids camp the lifts hard. Reflection- Worst map i have EVER played in a MP game. The Cage- Not to bad, but the spot by the health pack is so good, and pretty much everywhere else is bad. Spawns are bad, and it's hard to move around that map. Pinnacle- Not to hbad really, but everyone camps in the two towers, but I don't mid it. Asylum-Not to bad, but it feels like it's hard to flank, but i dont mind it. Sword base and Powerhouse are the only maps I like. I also wish there were less forge world maps, and more brand new maps. Don't care about the invasion or big team maps. And I'm prettygood at the game too. 1.63 k/d i think.

I haven't encountered a lot of the problems you're talking about, and I have played the game quite a bit. Boardwalk and The Cage are GREAT maps, though I do occasionally have problems with the spawns on The Cage. I am rarely ever killed by spawn camping on Boardwalk. Reflection is AWFUL, though, and I said as much.

I don't think Boardwalk is to bad of a map, it's just that I get spawned to close to the action. Example, alot of the fighting goes on in the area near the bridge near sniper spawn. If the actions theres, 95% of the time, I'm spawned to next to the two adjacent paths to that area. Honestly, with that spawn, its take 5 steps, get my bearings, and bam!, i'm in a gun fight. I think alot of my problems with the maps has to do with the horrific spawn system.

Noble Teams impact on the invasion didn't seem as important as what everyone made it out to be. I mean sure, there are obvious parts that play in with the original Halo, but I wasn't blown away by the story. Combat was pretty much rinse/repeat.

It's probably got the worst maps in the series but that's not saying much... I didn't like Halo 3's maps but I got used to them and then started to like them. Some of the better ones were added in DLC too, imo.

Halo 3 has some great maps like Valhalla, Guardian, The Pit, blackout, stand off, and last resort, but some maps just sucked.

While I'm still unsure of whether I enjoy the new gameplay over the more simplistic Halo 3, it is without a doubt an awesome game that did justice to the Halo series.

Definitely, I've play every single Halo game, even Halo Wars and ODST (both awesome) but Halo Reach is better than them all, maybe on par with Halo CE.

You Halo fans should worry about the possibility of Halo going the C&C way with 343 ind. I am still b*tthurt at how soulless the C&C series became.

Reach is a strong Halo game, but even without Bungie I don't think this will be the last Halo game, I think MS will contract out to another developers

The level after the credits was BRILLIANT. I loved the ending of Reach... makes you want to play all the Halo games again... don't see how a prequel can do any better than that.

No

Halo 3 ended it with a bang.

Reach ended it with a mild and insignificant firecracker pop.

[QUOTE="lawlessx"][QUOTE="ferret-gamer"] master chief tripped on a rock broke his neck, without him everyone died. The End. Happy now?ferret-gamer
..dude...do you WANT the posters from bungie.com to spam here? lol

i take it i opened some sort of can of worms?

yeah, MC doesn't trip. and I'm pretty sure it'd take more to snap his neck if it takes more than 10 headshots from a BR(individual bullets). anyway 343 is continuing MC's story. either way i think the 343 can do a good job with it.

In terms of overall content, absolutely.

For the single player, no. But then again, I don't think it was meant to. It ended appropriately on a somber note.
