Does Halo stand a chance against Black Ops 3 & Battlefront?

I gotta be honest with you, SW. I've been playing the Black Ops 3 beta all weekend and I think it's fantastic. I also have very high hopes for Battlefront and I know a bunch of people who will be getting for it. But as for Halo - it doesn't seem like it holds the same appeal as it used to. Do you think Halo stands a chance this holiday?

Yes. Halo fans will still get Halo and it will sell well, as will the others.

Have zero expectations when it comes to FlopFront, and call of duty is just more call of duty. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

But you're also acting like Battlefront and Black ops are on Playstation's side or something, you can get all 3 on the Xbone

Just about everyone who owns an Xbox One will buy Halo 5. I'd say it 'stands a chance' against just about anything, even games released on more than one platform.

Halo 5 will be better than both in my opinion.

Battlefront looks cool for the Star Wars aesthetic but it's basically almost a re skinned BF. ( yeah there will be ppl they say it isn't but having watched the gameplay vids it pretty much is, only major difference is the addition of the heroes you can jump into) BO 3 also seems cool but its not exclusive so won't have the same hype.

Compared to both Halo 5 is more complete. Has a bigger and better campaign than CoD as well as more game modes than both and it's an exclusive.

Halo 5 will actually end up being the good game if Battlefront's "alpha" or whatever was any indication. Black Ops 3 is Call of Duty, shit isn't good period. As far as Halo's ability to draw money? It's still a big and popular franchise, but it has peaked commercially. The era where Halo was this mega hyped game ended and it has just as much to do with there simply being too many Halo games as much as a dev change.

I will not be surprised if one of those two games score higher than Halo.

It's a series that has been in decline. I know that's smacking a hornet's nest stating the obvious around here, but it is what it is. With the lack of splitscreen as well as a weakening plotline, the hype for this series peaked long ago. Regurgitating gameplay elements from previous installments while using a new character to introduce new ones is just sad.

It's the reverse question that I am asking myself, will BO3 and Battlefront stand a chance against Halo 5? The footage I've seen of Warzone makes it look like great fun and the scale is massive. Campaign looks amazing. We shall find out soon :)

A game releasing exclusively to the X1 vs a multiplat. In sales, probably not, but I'm sure most X1 owners are happy for the simple fact that they can get all 3 if they want.

Lol COD and EA's cash grab. Not that, I'm saying that Halo 5 will definitely rock but those COD and EA's half assed games are nothing special. I rather play Killzone than those two.

It'll be better then both but probably sell less since the user base is lower being it's an exclusive. halo typically sells around 10 mil give or take. CoD around 25 mil and Battlefield around 15 million.

Only the diehards will buy it! CoD Blops 3 and SW Battlefront are more accessible to all crowds and will obviously trounce Halo 5 in sales since they are multiplats. My money goes to Blops 3 and Battlefront!!!

@GrenadeLauncher: Pretty much. Halo isn't attracting any new fans despite how much they water it down for e-sports. It looks so dated.

I'd say so... Battlefront looks good, and Titanfall: Black Ops is good, but Halo is Halo.

Let's see, Battlefront is getting bad press, Black Ops 3 is adds nothing new to the table, and Halo 5 is just continuing Master Chief's story but when it comes to playing single player in fps, I like a good story and Halo has that for me. I'll go with Halo 5 follow by Battlefront.

All I know is Halo is the only one I am buying of those 3. Will probably get the other two down the line though. Halo will be my multiplayer for awhile and Fallout my single player.

Out of those 3 only one will be in my home. Halo 5 baby.

i think he was just talking about halo as a franchise. bringing ps4 here would be a leap in logic and shows a bit of defensiveness imo.

as far as the answer goes, yes halo still has a big fanbase. if cod can come out with such crappy games and still retain their fanbase, so can halo.

Why does call of duty play like titan fall with all the wall running stuff? I miss the days when call of duty played realistically.

Halo 5 looks without a doubt the best complete package of all the other titles mentioned. I enjoy BF-style multiplayer gameplay, Halo's and CoD's. But judging from what I have seen so far, Halo's will at least have a promising campaign to go along with its specific brand of multiplayer. CoD's looks same'ol... and BF, lol, lacks one entirely.

Not at all. People are tired of Halo.

COD may be a tired series, but BLOPS3 feels really solid. The ADS feels improved, MP has good pacing. This will be the COD to bring back all the doubters.

Battlefront and Blops 3 will be more customizable. They have campaign, multiplayer, bots (which Halo never has other than stupid AI that gets killed in the blink of an eye)...Halo's done. I can guarantee it.

So cows have no exclusives this holiday so let's direct our attention to hoping a game doesn't sell well. Got it.

So basically this is just all about sales. Since there's only one exclusive between the three, it won't be surprising if the two multiplats outsell the exclusive this holiday. For me personally, the only one I'm getting day one is Battlefront. Only one console get them all though, so those owners will have a happier holiday than those who doesn't have that console.
