I think a ton of people are still very skeptical about Deus Ex HR. Its graphics certainly arent top notch, amongst the likes of Gears and Rage it doesnt appear as much to be a blockbuster, and tons of console gamers never even tried Deus Ex 1 before so have trouble being pumped to try this game. Overall i think alot of people were expecting this to be another Alpha Protocol, promising the world but then coming dead on arrival Well it got a 10 from OXM UK so are and even the sites that posted that peice of news said it in a "WTF?!" attitude haha. SO does the 10 completely surprise u and is it enough to change the minds of the skeptical?? So far three reviews for Deus Ex HR have called it one of the best games in a long time. (PS I have scans from the OXM UK review, not sure if im aloud to post ithem here or if u guys want me to but let me know and ill put up the pages to the review)ms555
Its visuals got an upgrade for PC, along with AI and more. Consoles got Deus Ex: IW didn't they? :P
Alpha Protocol has a LOT of things wrong with it. From what I've played of Human Revolution, it's going to be a sleeper hit along with Rage (which I haven't played.) The game just felt incredible, so I'm not surprised at all. Only surprising thing is that it's from a 360 mag, and not a PC mag.
I already got the Augmented Edition preordered. :D
unless ur incredibly fast at playing games, it isnt really a rental game length lol. Its like 40 hours long.ms555by rental i mean i'm buying it used or something, way to many games i'm interested in coming out, this is just getting put on the back burner
I got excited when I found out about the 10 as I have equal opinion on OXM reviews as I do Gamespot... I know its really "hip" and "edgy" to "lulz" at the first party magazines but if I compare my own personal scores with that of OXM and GS over this generation I bet they would come out even. Im getting Deus Ex.
I don't care what it gets, i'm buying it day one.silversix_whats disspointing is how little hype its getting. There is certainly a good popultion of people absolutely salivating for this game, including me, but there have been not too many sites truly hyping this game. AT E3, it was almost completely ignored, and like i said alot of sites were surprised when reviews actually called the game good. Here on gamespot, GTA V isnt even announced yet hahaha but its being more checked out than Deus Ex coming out next week, what up with that?! but im like u, im getting augmented version day one lol
The best way they could describe it was 'somewhere between Fallout 3 and Call of Duty', and then used that as a negative against the game. Quality journalism. It got an 8 from OPM, I think.

Yeah i think alo of people agree with u. Makes me feel like this game is gonna get lost in the storm of xmas blockbusters.
I don't care who reviews it before release. I want to see reviews from places I trust (read: not a magazine that probably thinks Call of Duty is the best game ever).

I don't have a problem with that. Fallout 3 and COD are pretty awful.
The game is still going to be amazing, though.
But was it wonderfully depressing? Strange thing to ask, but the first really nailed it. Not to say HR should be by all means in terms of individual identity.[QUOTE="ChubbyGuy40"]

From what I..saw...of it, it didn't have as oppressive a feel to it as the original, but then again as we know the s*** ends up hitting the proverbial fan, so I imagine as the game goes on the atmosphere will become more oppressive.

No, as in it plays very well and feels really new in this PoS market that's flooded with casual games and CoD clones.
I never played the original Deus Ex, so I can't compare setting or story. It was an absolute blast though.
It'll be interesting to say the least, the first just begins laying on the grim which makes the whole **** hitting that proverbial fan all the more engrossing. From all the impressions I've got from HR it seems to really be aiming square for those societal divisions in augmentation than poverty and class divide. Wonder if it'll be half as politically minded as the first. From what I..saw...of it, it didn't have as oppressive a feel to it as the original, but then again as we know the s*** ends up hitting the proverbial fan, so I imagine as the game goes on the atmosphere will become more oppressive.

OXM - **** no. What matters to me is what has been said about it from the players of the leaked demo version. If it's anything like Deus Ex in nature then it'll be good - I personally am looking forward to it, though playing through Deus Ex atm is reminder of how high the bar has been set. skrat_01Watching Patrick and the guys over at Giant Bomb do a quick look with the original made me pull it out again. I just have to figure out how to install the new texture pack that just came out.

I just have to figure out how to install the new texture pack that just came out.I had issues with that as well. I tried installing the pack but then the game just ran normally. Still, it isn't like I couldn't play through it again vanilla, but I'd prefer to play it again with the upgrade.heretrix

Agreed. They have much to live up to, but I think they understand the expectation and have strived to reach it.

Well, the most important thing about their statement is that Deus Ex HR is nothing like either Fallout 3 or Call of Duty (sort of, anyway, it's like saying that Uncharted is somewhere betweenMario Galaxy and Halo),but yeah, I think it's going to be amazing as well. I pre-ordered the augmented edition ages ago.Well, it has received 9+ scores from several other sites/mags as well. Not to mention that the feedback from the leaked preview build has been very positive.
I have been waiting over a decade for this game and I don't think it will disappoint.

You mearly need to change the renderer to openGL, i suggest you start a clean install, change to opengl then add the texture pack.. because it gave me problems and didn't recognize it without installing it again.
Btw., you should also go into the config. file, and change theantiostropic filtering, its quite low, put at max., and it'll look far better..
Another thing to know, there's a way to combine ENB series, New Vision (the texture pack) and HDTP pack, all of them will make the game look vastly better than just New Vision. I forgot how to, but there's most definitely a way on google.
Ofcourse with ENB, you'll have to tweak it until you find a perfect configuration for your taste, but there are various configurations already made for Deus Ex, google them also.
Wen HDTP pack is finished, the original Deus Ex will finally have a complete overhaul. New Vision is finished, ENB is here, all that's left if for the guys to complete HDTP pack (it vastly improve every object and character model in-game to look much more modern)

I just have to figure out how to install the new texture pack that just came out.Well ,well worth playing it again, the new vision pack isn't that hard to put on - just a matter of copying a huge amount of texture files into a folder then adding a line to the ini. Well worth installing the Shifter mod and resizing the hud for your resolution.[QUOTE="skrat_01"]OXM - **** no. Interesting interesting, glad to hear it from a newcomer to the series perspective tys[QUOTE="heretrix"]

Well, I didn't have any problems when I posted that, I hadn't installed the game yet. lol Thanks anyway. After install...
I can't even get past the menus without it hanging. And that's just vanilla. Oh well. I'll try it later on on my other PC. I think it's already installed on that one.
