does Miyamoto's GDC speech = Kaz's E3 speech? (i.e. crappy)

i'm reading through it... i'm at 11:57, and nothing interesting so far... he's only talking about past successes and stuff, just like sony, and then went on to talk about crappy wife-o-meter!!! WTF? we heard about "we need something that attracts non-gamers" a million times Nintendo!!!

is there something i missed? other than the new SMG info (cool but doesn't cut it)

It wasn't for you. It was for developers to better help them develop games. That's what the Game Developer's Conference is about.

I dunno how to gauge which one sucked more.  Kaz's just had a series of bad announcements, plus the Ridge Racer thing, but Miyamoto's "Creative Vision" doesn't exactly give me any inspiration, but rather encouragement to just keep thinking of game ideas.  Sorry, but as a developer and as a consumer, I want to see things in practice, I want to see what everyone else is doing so I can see what I like about their stuff and see if I can incorporate that into my vision (not necessarily features, but intentions).

No, Kaz was just bad news after bad news. Miyamoto's was just boring. I'd compare Miyamoto's speech to Kutaragi's speech at TGS 06.

The point of the speech was to talk about how Miyamoto designs games. HE talked about the different areas that he feels are important and how to work on them. If you were a  developer, wouldn't you want to hear how the greatest man in the industry makes games?

yes i know, they were DEVELOPERS (check my last) but don't u think that DEVELOPERS don't have anything to do BUSINESS DEALS? we knew that their won't be any MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENTS, but at least he could've made a SPEECH that ATTRACTS the developers... some new tools for motion sensing (like what sony did) so that the DEVELOPERS can perfect the technology... the speech provided NOTHING not for gamers, not for DEVELOPERS, and FRIGGIN' PISSED OFF... NINTENDO'S key component for success this gen is the 3rd party support, and that speech did anything but to enforce that...

Nintendo didn't have any new tools for developers at the moment. So instead he talked about the direction Nintendo was going as far as market wise. This was great for publishers wanting to know what games to put on the Wii and Ds. Just because he didnt anouce any new toys doesn't mean he didnt help developers.

ok u don't understand what i was trying to say... they could've at least offered DEVELOPERS some tools to enhance 3rd party CRAPPY games... see nothing new but very helpful, and there's tens of other stuff that they could've done that doesn't jeopardize that deal they're trying to make, but Ninty got a bit lazy and ARROGANT towards developers... they're starting to act like SONY i tell u

Apparently, there is a business deal going on with their stock which prevents them from being able to announce anything new - due to the effect of that new information making the value of the stock go up or down.

It's about his process as a developer, not necessarily Nintendo.  I do wish that Nintendo had something specifically about them though.

i feel Nintendo is half assing the market by solely concentrating on NON-GAMERS, theve been beat down so many times that they are now relying on non-gamers to pull them out of a jiffy.

Concentrate on games nintendo, and the people who actually play games, not some 80 year old grandmother who will play it once or twice.

Nintendo needs to maintain the momentum they gained upon the release of the Wii, they need the "DEVEOPLERS" support, GDC was the right place but they screwed it, what now wait till GDC'08?... that speach and attitude did anything but help there cause

You seem to be not getting the whole fact that announcing anything at all that may cause traders to buy stock, could get them in legal trouble.  Their hands are tied.

Plus it wasnt geared for fans, but developers.  Those there were people in the industry listening to Miyamoto.  Oh boo hoo nothing was announced, yeah but Miyamoto basically spelled out the Wii's philosophy and his goals towards it.  If anything it is going to give the devs more footing with working on the Wii.

GDC isn't E3.  It's not about us gamers, it's about the game developers who make the games for us gamers.

I hate when people don't know what there talking about...

Nintendo wasn't allowed to announce any new info.

They were grateful enough to show us some PH multi player, and great SMG trailer

and he hinted at an expansion of the Mii channel, the speech should have surpassed any expectations  because there shouldn't have been any expectations in the first place.

I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE DON'T READ ANY OF MY COMMENTS!!
GDC WAS SUPPOSED TO GIVE SOMETHING TO THE DEVELOPER... THEY DIDN'T NEED TO SHOW PEOPLE SMG OR PH TRAILERS... THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO TEACH THE DEVS HOW TO MAKE BETTER GAMES AND NOT ANOTHER RED STEELE, NO ANNOUNCEMNTS NO NOTHING, JUST MAKE THOSE STUPID DEVS MAKE SOMETHING BETTER... CUZ FRANKLY 3rd PARTY GAMES SO FAR (AND WHAT'S IN THE NEAR FUTURE) SUCKSSS

They did shown the devs how to make better Wii games.  You think they were going to videotape all the people working on this?  What Miyamoto said onstage wasn't everything that happened with Nintendo at GDC.

[QUOTE="grayfox_2k"][QUOTE="StealthSting"][QUOTE="grayfox_2k"]but the crowd's anticipation was sky high!! how could he disappoint them? and what makes not doubt that the whole "i'm not allowed to say anything" was because GDC was coming and he didn't have anything good to announce?

What do you expect? Nintendo cant legally announce anything at the moment with their stock situation.

I'm sorry but that preatty much explains it.

i'm sorry but that's a poor and lazy excuse as i just explained in a previous post... there's tons of other stuff they could've revealed without hurting the deal... Nintendo needs to maintain the momentum they gained upon the release of the Wii, they need the "DEVEOPLERS" support, GDC was the right place but they screwed it, what now wait till GDC'08?... that speach and attitude did anything but help there cause

It seems you think GDC should be a replacement for E3. Well I have to say I disagree. GDC was started for developers not the press and gamers.

It wasn't for you. It was for developers to better help them develop games. That's what the Game Developer's Conference is about.YellowPik

Yes. It's conference to developers, not general public. That was E3 for. If people think that KAZ and Miyamoto's speech was the same, they are fanboys.

1st reason. Miyamoto isnt unveiling his system or setting where are they going. This is already proven, so his words are to expand his market, not to start it

2nd reason- THIS CONFERENCE WAS FOR DEVELOPERS.

3rd reason-RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDGE RACEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER
                  GIANT ENEMY CRAB
                   599 USD

Enough??

Remember Nintendo can't announce new things in GDC. I'm not really sure why... is it because of the Chinese stock market drop?

[QUOTE="wooooode"]There was a huge anouncement from Nintendo saying there would not be any new info, because they are going through big stock thing and any new info could affect it.grayfox_2k
dude i know about that already... but i wish they didn't show up at all and not make that crappy appearance at the show

You'd rather they not show up, and not even atleast show us the SMG trailer? Weird. You don't like new trailers?

Don't forget GamePro's new expo, too.
