I would change the CPU to a quad core, other then that, not much really. People will sling around things with relatively big budgets, and there would of course be truths in the more powerful and expensive hardware to offer up more power.

But seeing the build, I assume it is a first step into PC, or to keep prices relatively low? If so, I would stop at suggesting a quad core, since most games on PC are built up around quad cores with HT, you would see a fairly big performance bump, for a fairly low price hike.

Besides most other things can be swapped rather easily over time, should you begin to find them lacking, the CPU is a bit harder to simply swap, takes more work.

What cpu would you recommend me?

I wanted to spend 400 but somehow I reached 520 so fast xD

Also will it beat current consoles?

edit: I went looking for a 4 core cpu and fou d i5 6400 at 181€

is it worth it?

with i5 6400 my build price will go to 636€ which is a lot more than what I expected...

that gpu will have a hard time beating current consoles as well. It will not be much better.

For a cpu i would get at least an i3.

for a gpu you can get a gtx 1050, that will be a significant advantage over the consoles.

You can buy a cheaper psu, cheaper isn't always bad.

this is a good one but you there are only a few possibilites to upgrade your gpu because it won't cut it anymore. A gtx 1050 ti will work with it just fine since they have the same power draw. But you can't go much further. a rx 470 or 570 and a gtx 1060 or gtx 960 will already be pushing it.

Gtx 1050 ti is 165€ (dual fan msi).

If I go for 1050 ti and i5 6400 the pc price will be 671€

671€ will be a hard bullet for me to bite but might as well go for it to have a good pc

edit: That 380w psu for 49€ seems reliable

If I go for that psu with 1050ti and i5 6400 then pc price would be 645€

is there any quadcore i3 you would recommend me? or should I go after the i5 6400 after all?

well i3 are cheaper but like you said, you might as well go for a good pc.

You can always turn to the second hand market as well, especially for cpu's.

The gtx 1050 isn't exactly the best price/performance as well, then you have to look at rx 470 and gtx 1060

@atomolog: I3 aren't quadcores, always dualcores. but most i3 are good enough for gaming especially the latest 6 and 7 series.

where you would you buy, newegg?

https://www.pcdiga.com

Its one of the cheaper stores in Europe.

Only downside... too far away. If any problem arises it will take forever to solve xD

This seems like a good one but if you can spare the extra 50 euro's for the I5 I would.

On the other hand, you will get the better results if you have an I3 with a rx 470/480/570 or gtx 1060 as you would have with an I5 6400 and a gtx 1050ti for instance.

still slower than the slowest I3 ever (the I3 2100) and for todays games that just won't cut it anymore. Well maybe it could, but it's significantly less cpu performance of what you would get in a ps4,

@commander: No, it's not slower than the 2100. It's faster than Haswell i3s. Seriously, look shit up before making dumb claims. That Pentium has hyperthreading.

You're right, the list I always get my info suddenly is no longer good anymore.

Was reliable in the past, now suddenly it isn't anymore.

Might be good cpu for him actually, since I looked up the benchmarks and get's quite good results

Oh , and you might get of you high horse, people can make mistakes.

He just needs to bump his Gpu up to a 1060 or a rx 480/580 and hes good to go for most games

Was you thinking of the G3258 Pentium Anniversary cpu the one without hyperthreading?

That's a good build on the cheap. I'd also add an SSD (160gb is cheap) for Windows.

That CPU is also quite enough for console emulation if you'd ever be interested in older games. With that CPU and GPU, you can easily play Playstation 2 and Gamecube/Wii games in HD (720p), a good amount of them maybe in FullHD (1080p).

I'd also get a HDMI cable and connect it to your TV. You can switch between your monitor and TV on the fly.

No, you can do a thousands different things than what you could do with a console. Besides, he can upgrade.

I really didn't know what to expect from a Pentium processor, a chip pre-dating the i-series. But I was pleasantly surprised by the results, including Witcher 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider performance which are two graphics powerhouses.

Even at mostly Med settings (with Textures and some others at Ultra) being able to get average frame rates of 50, 60, and even in some cases 80 and well above, not once dropping below 40... that alone puts it ahead of the consoles that are most commonly capped to 30 fps (racing games and sports usually being the exception) and still often dropping down to the 20's. Plus getting native 1080p resolution instead of upscaled.

Of course all these results are with a GTX 1060 6 GB, so it would be worth upgrading to that card (or equivalent RX 480/580) so long as there's wiggle room in your budget.

Well, your query has been answered sufficiently at this point. Please be mindful in the future that a thread like this is not necessarily suited for System Wars.
