Dual Layer Blu-ray discs won't change anything. And the CELL has no hidden power, it's all there, just waiting for devs to use it.Its Possible. Dual Layer blu rays have not been used for games yet.

Apparently it does, and I'd wish to know so. Also, I've heard John Carmack say the X-box 360 is superior, can someone quote this exactly for me. UDrakeHe said it on Twitter, you can take my word for it.

Yes, the cell has hidden power. Once it is unlocked humanity will transcend into a higher plane of existence. ferret-gamerWe will leave behind our physical bodies and become one with the universe. On topic: The Cell isnt nearly as powerful as everyone makes it out to be. Its slower than most current PC processors.
And btw., it really depends who created the Cell in the first place. Due to its unknown materials and architecture, we have no idea what might happen if it's unlocked. It's possible for us to transcend beyond the physical realm, but it could also be possible for it to destroy the universe and us with it.
Who knows what the purpose of the cell is, but at least we can have a positive thought since we know that the ancient Hermit Gods blessed it after its creation. Who ever created the Cell, it must have ben a being that is more powerful than the mighty Hermit Gods. Who the hell would be more powerful than a God?
Uncharted 2 was first to use 100% of the Cell CPU, I don't think most games pushes it more than 60%.
Like a mod just said, usage doesn't mean anything. I can tell the CELL to run the game alongside calculating PI and make it 100% used, but that doesn't mean I've unlocked the hidden powa of da CELLUncharted 2 was first to use 100% of the Cell CPU, I don't think most games pushes it more than 60%.

The cell is actually based on ancient Cell-Naga technology. The Cell-Naga forged us all trying to create the perfect gamer. But one day they dissapeared. They left the Cell behind as a reminder to the lesser races that the Progenitors hold unlimited power, and a test for our ingenuity. Thus, once we unlock the true capabilites of the Cell, we will have truly achieved our divine purpose, set by the ancient Cell-Naga who created us.
Well the disks can hold 5x times as much data as the 360 so technically it's atleast 5x as powerful. The problem is that most games (even 1st party ones) are optimised on technology reminiscent of a 360, as most developers don't have the technology to make it straight onto a ps3. However as you can see with UC3 and GOW3, they are finally tapping into this power and that is why the ps3 doesn't need to be updated as soon as the 360, it's a much more tactical long term approach.
Teh cell mixed with the graphical capabilities of blu ray is why PS3 beats PC in graphics.Ly_the_Fairy:lol: Win.

Umm, No, it don't. I keep laughing every time I read someone insisting that the PS3 has some strange hidden power. The Devs can optimize thier code for so long, getting more out of thier code, but hidden power? The PS3 was sold on empty promises, nothing more.
It is still a good media center, and Sony throw alot of money after first partys to ensure some good titles. They are compared to the hardware impressive to say the least, but that is not anything power related, that is the will sweat and tears of the Devs that does that, not any hidden power.
The main problem with the 1st partys on the PS3, is that they all feel so confined, in order to make good looking graphics, you are essensially forced to put players in small rooms and corridors, to uphold the graphical capabilities. That and a whole lot of streaming.
So No hidden power of the cell, but REALLY talented Devs.
Will be epic when MS releases X720 and Sony just hits the anti-doom-switch on the cell for unlimited power. Will be the end of MS! SushigluttonLol, that would be funny :P
It does, you need many cells though, like 100 PS3 combined, then you can have that power unlocked and PS3 can actually run Crysis 2 in true HD like xbox 360 and not sub HD and blurry
Hopefully next gen Sony wotn promote their hardware, like the not needed Blu ray and cell and provide a great GPU like 360 does, than have the customer pay for Sony hardware research and market break
Its more of a fanboy term conjured up on forums. I don't care which is more powerful really because if dev's can't use "hidden" powers of either console then its not worth arguing about. Its about what we see and have seen. Not something we haven't

But PS3 has more stuffs, Xbox has preferable franchises and PC is held back by multi-platform games and Indie Developers.

how is the PC held back by Indie developers??? >.>Indeed it does, the Cells secret power, once unlocked will create 4D graphics, at 120 frames per second. It will be able to cure cancer, please your girlfriend better then you all while being able to churn out thesis papers for your dissertation and spinning a DJ booth. It will run on no energy, no power, nothing and in doing so break all theories about the conservation of energy. It will know how transcend time and space, but will stay in your living room console because it finds the plastic black to be incredibly slimming.
..
Which naturally flows into my final point, it knows something is slimming because it can think for itself. Its self conscious, sentient. What I am saying of course is that Sony invented Skynet.
techincally Cell is very futureproof. sony can just put two of them, high end end graphic card (somthing like kepler) and 6GB ram. and you have PS4 already
r12qi
Not really. We now have APUs out now and 6/8/10/whatever core CPUs coming out that will totally destroy the Cell in performance.
Technically it does. It has a very high theoretical performance, but that can't be reached because of efficiency issues. They already had to disable 1 spe to improve chip yieldings on the cell.
Does it have *teh hidden power* that can actually be used? No. :P
