Does this gen really need more standard shooters

I can see creating more fps/rpgs like borderlands and fallout 3 but hasn't this gen had enough standard fps. DO we really need more. Its do bad companies dont just keep supporting the ones we have with new dlc mp packs cause we dont need anymore full fps games.

You need a spell check.

We don't "need" anything; games are wants, not needs.

But if people want them (and MW2 sales indicate they do) we'll keep seeing them.

FPS/RPG? That isn't a genre. Also FallOut 3 and Bordedrlands are nothing alike.

i disagree. it matches uncharted in cinametic sequences at in some parts. and the graphics is very realistic looking as well.

This gen could use more spiced up shooters if anything, like Mass Effect. We have WAY too many standard shooters.

Cross-genre FPSs are the norm this gen. I still haven't seen ONE decent "standard shooter".

We do need more "standard" shooters like the first Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake, CS and UT were.

You mean besides pretty much every TPS that came out before this gen? It sucks that every TPS these days seems to have a cover system, even GTA4 does...I actually hope they don't make a Freedom Fighters sequel because it'd just end up with a cover system, or even worse, they'd turn it into an FPS.

I miss old-school shooters: no health regeneration, quicksaving, clever level design, exploration, secrets, the need of aiming above and below, and more variated enemies who doesn't stay behind cover showing half of his body every 5 seconds.
