I got a uber powerful Alienware computer. Has a Gtx 660 and i5 2320. Yeah man it can pump out some pretty amazing visuals. Just wait till I upgrade to Maxwell. I'll be having more power than a Gtx Titan.

I used to have a 360 till it got struck by lightning. It feels as if theres nothing on pc to fill the void of Halo and Gears of War for the multiplayer. All the shooters on pc just seem to be like Call of Duty, like Battlefield 4. I like Call of Duty but theres nothing like Gears of War and Halo for multiplayer.

Gears of War has that cover system and gore that makes it feel unique. Halo is just Halo, theres nothing like it.

I mean just look at the Steam top played games, theres nothing like Gears of War and Halo. Ps3 also doesnt have anything like it.

Halo and Gears of War are the only multiplayer games I feel dont copy off of other games. Its like they are the Coke classics of gaming. You know you will try to spice it up some by picking some other kind of soda, but you will always go back to the classic Coke or Pepsi.

It may be also because Gears of War and Halo is based on a pretty epic story that goes deep. Story inspires gameplay too.

It would be pretty empty without my 360 since thats probably the system I use the most.

It's a shame that neither of those games is capable of telling that "deep story" in the games. I'd probably quite fine not having my 360 at this point, I've played nearly all the exclusive games I want to.

Gears of War was one of the most boring tech demo's I ever played (NOTE: not being anti lemming, I will say the same about Crysis 1.) it marked the end of EPIC GAMES as an awesome studio, it marked the destruction of the Unreal Tournament franchise by trying to merge them into the shambles that was UT3 "we now support consoles edition".

Halo has gone down hill, Halo 2 and 3 were great, not its lost ALOT of its initial brand power to the likes of CoD and Battlefield. not to mention its no longer Bungie's love child, DESTINY will be the replacement for HALO and not limited to microsoft.

I traded my PS3 in for a XBOX SLIM when the kinect buzz came around, and its the one thing I regret most, as the system had barely any games worth owning there after. while PS3 had loads of gems I have missed out on.

So to answer your question:

No, I felt my gaming collect was COMPLETE without it. it did nothing for me. I bought the original one 2 years into its life wondering why all the lemmings dominated system wars when I first came here.... and turned out it was a crap poor man pc... with alot less content.

I just can't fathom how one can be self aware and not think in 2013, look back and come to the conclusion that ... after the first 2-3 years of the 360... it was probably the least interesting console to own. unless it was your ONLY console.

Nah, when I traded mine in back in 2010 I knew the three games I would miss would be Tales of Vesperia, Halo 3 and Alan Wake. Not really worth keeping a system around for.

Oh and the whole "I looked at the top of steam"... steam is not representative of the entire system, use your brain.

DoTa 2, League of Legends and World of Warcraft are far beyond Halo and Gears, but the key difference is, they are alot more RELEVANT today, the first 2 are STILL growing in played base to the point where they could potentially reach the 1 million players logged in at peak consistently.... games that have been out for 3-4 years already and increase by 100k every few months. LoL having more viewers than big sporting events (sometimes).

Halo and Gears... no... they are very familiar franchises... but their relevance and prime has long gone.

The only reason I know where my XBOX 360 is lying around...is because it doesn't move on its own. It's not hooked up to anything since I bought a PS3.

Without an Xbox? No. My setup is fine without one of those. Without a Playstation? Yes. I've had a Playstation near my TV for 18 years now. As I now have the PS4, that won't be changing any time soon. Infact, I now have two Playstation's in my entertainment center as we still use the PS3 as well.

@lostrib: I was thinking the same. Hopefully he was jesting.

My 4th 360 RRoDthed me two days after I bought my PS4. Maybe MS built in a self-destruct if it detected Sony's new system on the network. Regardless, it's new home is now the dump and the only thing that makes me wish I had another is Halo Anniversary. But after four systems, it ain't worth it yet.

Yes.

If you take away Gears, Halo and Forza there are plenty of great exclusives to play on the 360.

Blue Dragon

Crackdown

Perfect Dark Zero (hasn't aged that well but it has really fun co-op and was great around 2005 - 2006 for online)

Lost Odyssey

Crackdown

Viva Pinata: TiP

Banjo Nuts & Bolts

Akai Katana

Chromehounds

Tales of Vesperia (not exclusive but the only English version is on 360)

Project Gotham Racing 3 and 4

Too Human

The Darkness 1

Condemned 2

Kameo

Bullet Witch

Ninja Gaiden 2

MagnaCarta 2

Beatufiul Katamari

Ninety Nine Nights

Saints Row 1 (had great multiplayer for its time)

Shadow Complex

Geometry Wars 2

Banjo and Perfect Dark remakes

I'm sure there's plenty more (especially for the arcade) but I'm just going by what I've played and enjoyed. I'm not saying the 360 had better exclusives than the PS3 but it's still a must own system to play some of these especially because of how cheap the console is now. I feel that a lot of people have probably missed out on the 360 and original XBox and probably wont ever play some of the best exclusives from the 6th and 7th gen

Its interesting, I got a 360 this year for really cheap. First one got RROD within a few months, but I got it replaced for free. Afterwards, I picked up halo 3 and the gears trilogy. I played some of the campaigns of them, but never was too gripped by the stories. After the RROD, I lost my save files (forgot to back them up before returning the console) and just haven't had any desire to come back to them.

I played a little bit of MP on gears 3 and halo 3. Gears was pretty fun, but the same thing I've been playing since gears 1 on pc for years. Halo 3 has been pretty fun as well, but FPS games are so saturated in this market that I am a little burnt out on it.

So I am like, I have this system with a huge backlog of games and I can't find anything to play on it. I get my multiplats on PC so there isn't much else to be interested in. I think the most interesting games I'll find will be on xbla. Shadow complex looks pretty sweet and i'm dying to play perfect dark in HD with dual analog sticks.

Exactly this. I think this needs a stick for a reality check.

The only people that could POSSIBLY defend the platform are those there from the beginning that invested so heavily in its ecosystem with achievements, friendships and dlc. for those who have owned most of the systems that don't rely on one device on the outside looking in the Xbox360 while having a good start became the most redundant of the 3 in terms of unique games it could offer.

That is why I find this whole X1 vs PS4 launch debate absolutely pointless. the generation will last another 10 years, the outcome could quite easily change. right now, people are investing in mindless promises. at best people can speculate that uncharted or the next halo or titanfall will be THE reason to own one over the other.... but in reality most of these franchises are going to be milked to the point where they are losing appeal (just look at Halo, Gears and God of War, 3 franchises that have degraded that were once considered the prime of their consoles).

Meanwhile lemmings/cows throw insults at Hermits and Sheep, claims of irrelevence, both dying platforms.... both offer experiences neither of them can hope to deliver. Nintendo being one of the only companies that can consistently keep a franchise top tier.

These £350 and £420 entry point systems will offer nothing but a handful of exclusives over pc and eachother.

I had a roommate who had an Xbox 360 at launch, so I effectively had an Xbox 360 for its first 3 years. I decided to buy a PS3 later because the 360 had 2 RRODs, I had already played Halo 3 and Gears of War, and the PS3 was starting to roll with quality exclusives. I am really considering picking up an Xbox 360 for some of the quality single player exclusives that I have missed, but I'm not willing to pay more than $150 for one, and I'm not interested in the Arcade model. Maybe there will be a deal this Black Friday. I'm also still kind of holding out hope that most of the games get ported over to the PC soon.

Yeah, i think its pretty foolish to buy one at launch if you think you know how the next 10 years are going to play out. Personally, I will wait until one system has 2-3 must have games before I dive in.

I still haven't finished all my current gen games anyway. I'm playing through deadspace trilogy on pc. Meanwhile I have ni no kuni, infamous 2, and TLOU to play on the ps3 before I even consider a next gen system.

I wasn't 100% on infamous 2, but i liked the first and second son looks cool. Plus it was ~7 dollars used.

Meh, itll run games at higher settings than a ps3/360. You have to consider that a laptop will likely be running these games ~720p. Its not hard to hit a nice framerate with high settings with that setup.

Right, beating a 8 year old console at 720p does not make an "uber powerful" computer

I stopped reading after that. How did your console get struck by lightning?

Well a lightning strike probably caused an electrical surge and either got fried through the ethernet or power cord.

I have a friend that had their 360 fried by a lightning strike, another lost his gaming PC to one. It happens.

I dont think he means lightning directly struck his 360.

I would have loved one to go with my PC throughout last gen, but I had so many friends with 360s that I never really felt the need to buy my own.

Nowadays I don't really care to own one.
