I guess it's leading PS3 in overall sales but we continue to see monthly sales favor the PS3, and analysts always did predict PS3 to be the longterm winner.
Here is my point of view. Wii and PS3 both have handhelds, both have online options, both have some (or rumored to have) multimedia options, both have several peripheral controllers..... it's just one stayed basic, and one went all the way.
360 is obviously an upgrade over Wii but a little inferior compared to PS3. It doesn't go all the way with HDTV, because PS3 has the blu-ray player. It doesn't go all the way with memory storage because it still sells units that support flash memory while PS3 is hard drive only. It charges $100 for a wireless adapter while its built in on the PS3. It feels like the slightly less talented sibling of PS3. It seems like the only system that is slightly confused on its direction. I know PS3 keeps changing specs too, but PS3 has always been "we're the super-duper high specs blu-ray system." Nintendo has always said what its purpose is: The cheaper more novel casual system.
360 feels like the odd man out. It feels a little bit like some of the last Sega systems. To make matters worse, I'm a PC gamer as well, and so much of 360 feels like a gimped down version of PC gaming, although not nearly as bad as last gen. 360 feels like the system trying to please everyone, but specialize in nothing: stated it would be casual too but not like Wii, tries the high specs of PS3 but still stays traditional console with flash memory and etc, tries to be a PC gaming option but doesn't offer the customization and size of PC communities.
I think it will do better than Sega, but honestly, there are only 2 things that keep me with my 360 since PS3/360 seem to have almost identical libraries these days: 1) the RPGs, i love that genre and apparently its the system of choise for that genre this go-around, and 2) the online options. I love online gaming and even though it charges, it still has the superior online system although PS3 is quickly catching up. I also like the online extras better on 360.
