Donkey Kong Country 3 coming to Switch online this Friday along with other games

This completes the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, of which I never played through. I keep saying I will eventually lol. What say you, Switch fans? You excited to play to DK 3 on Switch? Any interest in the other games? Never heard of 'em.

I have dkc3 on several platforms, and yet to complete it. I think I finally will this time lol

Meh. Strong nostalgia for the DKC games, will always love the visuals and music. Pretty average as platformers tho. Still dig some of the mine cart stages, about it.

Retro definitely outdid Rare on the gameplay front.

@SolidGame_basic: They're worth checking out for sure, not bad, but the praise might be lost on you. They were the high production value/aight gameplay product of their time.

Nice to have DKC 3 on there now as well. Always enjoy playing those games every now and then so will definitely play this one again as well.

I remember when MS announced BC and it was free, but still bot shit, Nintendo charge you a premium and no one bats an eye lid lol.

I am curious though. With emulators, and many legal sources to actual ROMs, why the **** would anyone care about it being on the switch? The same is true for other old consoles as well. Of the PS1 and PS2 stuff I've seen on PS Now, running the same games through a modern emulator lets me apply improvements to the original game that the current options in stores for newer consoles actually provide. I mean, I am happy to see some retro stuff getting attention, but most of it is just shameless cash grabs.

@SolidGame_basic: The first Donkey Kong Country is a bit rough, but the other 2 are games I always return to when I hook up my SNES.

They are just great 2D platformers and just some of the greatest 2D games before the industry moved on to 3D.

I remember these games back in the day. My dad gave me a choice, SNES or Sega Genesis. Donkey Kong was the big hit at the time. But I chose Sega because I wanted to be different 😮 Damn commercials.

Genesis had some really cool games too, takes me back to the days when gaming was so expensive you could only have one system :P

But I never liked Vectorman, which was the game people kept claiming was Genesis' Donkey Kong Country.

Anyway, I'm a huge Rare fan to this day because of how good their SNES games were, they definitely hold up to this day.

I remember Vectorman as well. It was that showcase game for the Sega. I've heard Rare was great back in the day. Well they did make Goldeneye.

Out of all the Donkey Kong Country games I played, DKC3 was okay. DKC3 is much more of a bolder and daring game with more complexion and variation, but even through its simplicity as the first in the series, I think DKC1 stands the test of time as a true classic which probably gives it the edge over DKC3. But at the same time, I'm a massive DKC fan and sometimes feel like each game in the series is the best in some ways so I may have trouble definitively saying one is better than another. I always felt DKC3 received too much criticism for some reason as the outcast of the DKC series when it's really an awesome game. It's not quite as impactful for its time as 1 or even DKC2 were, (naturally, it's always harder for sequels to distinguish themselves) but still remarkable to play. And I always loved some of the more mature, darker music themes that came with it.

Are you kidding me dude Nintendo Online is only $20 for the whole year and comes with that free.

GamePass costs 120 a year and is garbage and doesn't come with online.

uhhh Xbox live is piece of trash and it costs 80 dollars a year now just play your games online while PC cojmpletely free and ur calling nintendo trash look in the mirror and see yourself here look at what ur paying for u don't get PS+ collections with xbox live or anything cool and its more expensive its trash your getting nothing but online with it throwing money away.

The Switch Lite is $200 and is a god damn great deal its gameboy of our time while ur playing garbage on xbox I don't even want to know what your playing on that.

I'm slamming 3d All Stars, Fire emblem, Smash, all on the go your playing garbage on a tv at best thats nothing I'm playing all those games on the go in my room at while lying down in bed your tethered to a TV think about that your nothing dude nothingness.

Are you kiddin me dude? When DKC 1 came out it was a graphical powerhouse and it tons of snow on screen and weather effects something no other game had around that time. It was a beast graphically.

The gameplay you had to precise levels didn't hold your hand you were on the edge the whole level. This was no mario flying through stage with a cape on. This was donkey kong challenge this is what you get it was better than mario.

Especially the later Donkey Kong Countries are really good with tons of side objectives, great side characters and great mini games.

Donkey Kong Country was good, Donkey Kong Country 2&3 are among the best 2D platformers and SNES games.

What are you talking about? You can play SNES stuff, and even later consoles at full speed on any cell phone. I think your average cell phone is even more "on the go" than the switch will ever be.

By paying for Nintendo online you get access to 60+ retro games from NES and SNES, the ability to use their incredibly shitty online, Super Mario 35 and Tetris 99.

If you hadn't already guessed, Nintendo Online sucks complete ass. Remove all the retro games, and those two "new" retro games, and add an online that fucking works, I'd be much more ok with paying the small fee they're greedy enough to force on people.

20 dollars is nothing compared to 100 thats a fact. I didn't own all these snes and nes games so how the hell would I get BC with them when I don't even own em ip daily? What about all physical xbox games and 360 games I own and want to play on an x-series s when it doesn't have a disc drive do tell me how do that one. Switch online is terrible. Honestly it is not even worth $20.00 per year.

While I agree Switch online multiplayer isn't the greatest, I do enjoy all of the games I never got to play. But I really don't care about paying $20.

I don't care about $20.00 either I just cannot stand when Nintendo (or any other company) is so obviously lazy with a system or product. It feels like they don't even try with Nintendo Online and just expect everyone to pay up. I feel the exact same way about Pokemon and Animal Crossing. Straight up mediocrity on every level but just shut up and pay up. They are not always like this and have many great games, but I call it how I see it.

I would have to lower my IQ so much to take on that post, but i'm afraid to as i would never get those points back :(
