I beg to differ. The graphic touches in DKC 2 is so superior for the time being than any other game. The fog, the beehive, the swamp, the water, the fireworks, the lava. At least in my opinion.

I agree. I started playing this game yesterday and it still blows me away knowing the time it came out.
Nintendo needs to start making a new Donkey Kong platformer.
By the way, I miss those type of graphics. Sometimes I wish we would have never gone 3D.

I remember buyijng DK COuntry back in the day and being amazed by the graphics at the time. But looking back, I think I was more amazed by seeing games like MK2 make a very faithful jump from arcades to the SNES. I think that impressed me more.

I must say, I thought this game was the best EVA when I was little. I still to this day think its great and one of my top 10s compare to some games nowadays. Also, the music was fantastic

It was good. The most impressive audio achievement for an SNES game probably goes to ActRaiser.

I would say Vectorman (just for pure effects and the best animation 16-bit had ever seen) and Sonic 3d Blast were in the same league. Hell Sonic Blast used very similar technology.

I actually completely agree. Now before fanboys jump all over this poster you have to understand what he is talking about. Back then the SNES and genesis days, the game literally shocked me how graphically impressive it was. I've not had the same feeling for any game/console since then. Of course it doesn't compare to anything today but it was amazing to see them get so much graphics with so little power.

I think you might be right. I was amazed by the graphics at the time, plus the game was just awesome, my favourite SNES game in fact. I guess I was a little graphics whore back then already. :P

for its time? yeah! ill agree with you on that. im not sure when the neo geo, jag, 32x and 3DO came out. if they came after donkey kong country you are 100% correct. if they came out before then no. we make fun of these consoles to day but some games like alien vs predator on the jag, and the 32x version of virtua fighter blew the snes and genesis away.

I was one of the few to own a Jaguar and Alien vs Predator, and holy crap AvP was WAY ahead of it's time. Not only for the graphics, but the games's atmosphere was simply unmatched. Scared the living hell outta ya...

Best Platformer Series ever .... yes I said it.

Mario may have been first to make it awesome, but DKC's slaughtered it.

Yup, I have to agree. I remember receiving the Making of Donkey Kong Country VHS tape back in 8th grade or whatever it was. VHS!! lol. Anyhow, I was completely amazed at the difference from every SNES game before DKC. I also remember being in San Fran the night it came out and going to Toys R' Us and picking it up. AHHHH memories.

Add the flawless ports of MK II, and the unique take on Killer Instinct and the SNES was a graphical powerhouse in those days.

Donkey Kong Country did have amazing graphics, but I still think that Yoshi's Island is the most graphically impressive game. It had an early 3D accelerator chip in it though, so it kinda had an unfair advantage.

I kinda wish I didn't sell mine. I had AvP, Zool 2, Kasumi Ninja(oh god I know), Tempest, Hover Strike, Trevor McFur in the Crescent Galaxy, Wolfenstein 3D (awesome), and Iron Soldier 2.

I had Donkey Kong Country on the SNES and it was a master piece, and the sound track and BGM were awesome to, it had fully 3D rendered models put on a 2D background which gave it that extra kick in the graphical area.

and since pics don't do justice to this game:

Check out Donkey Kong Jungle Beat for the GC/Wii. This is an underrated masterpiece, and will feed your cravings until the next proper DK platformer.

NO, lol. I remember the last boss battle when K.Kooper (w/e his name is) and when he falls down the credits start to roll and you think you beat the game. After the credits, K.K gets up and starts attacking and the first time I got hit and had to start all over again.

Agreed. I have only recently gotten the game due to the Wii's VC, but I can still really appreciate just how great that game looks for its time (having been playing games since the NES). Now, I obviously haven't played every game there has been, but based on what I have played, it's amazing what they pulled off with the game.

Yep. No jaggies in the entire game, and that's without using any depth of field tricks, because the one depth in the game is perfect.

Certainly better than Super Mario RPG (which is about the same graphically), which made you feel like you were playing with dolls, something that seems kinda weird for a Mario game.
