Good game on a bad system. The score is not the problem the sales are. I doubt this will be enough to change the fate of the wii u.

I say it gets A 9. But sales will not meet expectations and no one will care by the 1st of March.

I'm hyped. It'll get an 8 methinks. Definitely gonna play this with the Pro Controller.

I really liked the music in that first video.

I think it will get a 9. The game looks really good and will kick off what should be a great year for the Wii U.

I think it will get a 9. I would have pre ordered, but I already pre ordered Lightning Returns and Thief. Also picked up the Nintendo Land controller bundle and RE Umbrella Chronicles. So I'm not going to be buying anything else for the month. Maybe next month, but I'm getting FFX HD and Infamous so I guess I'll see what's possible.

Loading times will make it drop below a 9, I guessed an 8.

Didn't feel like posting every single detail about the game. And I found the 4 videos that best represent the game. I thought I did alright.

I think it will get AAE. GS will like it, but will likely not give it a higher score due to its being too similar to DKR for the Wii.

I hope all 10 WIIU owners really enjoy this game.

Is that really strong after 15 months? Seems pretty poor to me.

I understand internet hyperbole and all, but yes, 4 million is a significant number. Saying a number like that is "10" or "poor" or "nobody" is delusional at best.

AAA. It's Retro.

I'm sure it will be great but I do wish Retro were making something other than another 2D platformer, think WiiU is well represented with them already and desperately needs some big 3D action/adventure/RPG games.

Will be a personal 9-10 fro me and I actually suspect it might get a 9 here. The first retro developed Donkey Kong is one of the best games of all time. I expect great things from this sequel.

So how does SW work with hype threads? I guess most people just say democratic vote wins. For example, if 40% people voted 8, 30% voted 9, 30% voted 10, then most would say that the hype is 8 (AA).

But really, most people voted 9 or 10 (60%). So the hype should follow a formula. In this example, it should be (8*0.4) + (9*0.3) + (10*0.3) = 8.9, rounding up would be a hype of AAA, not AA.

Anyway, just spilling some thoughts. It might be appropriate for this thread, since 42% think AAA or AAAA, and 52% is at AA. So it's getting close.

By the formula: (6*0.03) + (7*0.03) + (8*0.51) + (9*0.31) + (10*0.11) = 8.36 is the current hype, so AA, which is in line with the democratic vote at the moment anyway.

A 9 fur shur. Returns was an awesome, awesome game, and this one looks even better.

Don't have a Wii U yet, but this is one of the games that help me to consider buying one

No plans on me picking the game up anytime soon. Donkey Kong Country Returns was alright but nothing special in my opinion, so although this game looks like it has a little more personality than the previous game I don't know if it's my thing at full price.

I wish the game used the dynamic camera more often. A little tired of side scroller's after last gen had about a million of them.

Yes, been waiting for this! The delay prior made the wait long and I lost interest in playing Mario games... looks like ill be dusting off the Wii U in a couple weeks! lol

9.0. First game would have been a 9.0 for me based upon level design, music, and visuals, but the Wiimote controls were way too fumbly even as I progressed through the game.

I think it's worth bringing up that the level load times are long but since this all occurs at the beginning of the level it doesn't affect the gameplay or really detract from anything too much.

8 here and about a 9 everywhere else.

Gamespot will probably give it an 8.

For me personally, it will probably be a 9 or a 10. Donkey Kong Country Returns was a great game that was ruined by terrible waggle controls. Now that Pro Controller support is confirmed for Tropical Freeze, I don't think there will be anything to stop this game from being amazing.

Just one more week left... I can't wait! I've been on media black out mode for this lately, but I hope Retro pulls off another Donkey Kong Country Returns. The only thing I'm skeptical of is that Kong Pow move. Not a fan of that at all.

I'm going to say AAA, this game just looks that good. One of the best platformers I've ever seen.

I get a bad feeling that is real (please be wrong), but if it's true. Better build a massive flame shield because it is going to be a meteor storm of flames coming down. That is a major flop considering it has high hype.

Maybe it's not McShea either. Is Carolyn still around?

@nintendoboy16: considering mcshea wrote an article complaining that it was a "waste" of retro's talent I wouldn't be surprised if they got him to review it. He's gamespots golden goose after all

Won't be buying it though. Not in the mood for another platformer.
