What a shocker. A brand new level 1 poster making a thread acting like he's a gaming expert. Nope...no fanboy here, just rational, logical arguements. Or not...
I've played all 3 systems so I feel like I can say this without biastmacairjordan87
Even people with all three systems have a bias. Especially if that person is NOT a real gamer but mopre of a technology fanboy.
The Wii is nothing but a gimmick people, you gotta realize that to start with. It's basically a gamecube with a motion sensing controller, woopidie doo. How long will the fact that you can move your guy around by waving the controller interest even the most simple minded people?
Uhmm...I played Zelda and you move around using the joystick. I've played Tony Hawk and Sonic where you move around using the D-pad. I've played Trauma center where you need motion control to get the true experience of the game. Hell, even Tiger Woods has the option of using the stick. And the new Super Paper Mario, which every preview has worshipped, controls like a NES title using the D-pad and two buttons.
So I am calling you out right now as either a liar or a plant. If you played the Wii for more than 5 seconds you would know that it isn't all about moving the motion sensor to "move your guy around."
Nintendo pulled out the only thing they could do as a last ditch attempt to make noise in the console wars by doing this, but didn't sell out by making adult oriented games like Sony and Microsoft have (although they've done it since they started in the industry so their not selling out).
No real gamer talks about "adult" games. FACT: the overwhelming majority of games are in the T for TEEN category and those are on all consoles. FACT: Nintendo has proven there is a market being ignored and they are selling out because of it. FACT: MS and Sony are not "selling out" and even when they did it wasn't because of their "mature" games. It was because of hype or because of fanboys or because people felt there was a wide selection of games to chose from. NOT because of "adult" games vs "kiddie" games.
The facts are most of the people who play video games are adults 18+ and teens 13-17, and majorly male. Going back to when i was 12 I had little interest in kiddie games and from experience with most other guys my age we all felt the same, that Nintendo was ok but Playstation was amazing because of the graphics, adult themes, and more advanced gameplay.
Why do casuals always tell the same story about how they got into gaming with the PS1...and yet think they know about the industry as something other than a casual outsider. I agree. The PS1 was amazing but it had nothing to do with advanced gameplay (which was the same as always), graphics (which at the begining were no better than Saturn). Sure, adult themed games helped, but moreso because they were new at the time. Now they aren't new and gameplay hasn't changed either. People want something new and the casual gamer isn't just a bunch of graphics worshipping tech-nerds. They want to have fun with friends. They don't want to play a single player mature game by themselves.
And I consider myself a hardcore gamer AND I've been around way longer than PS1 (way way longer). I also have a massive game collectio made up like 90% of those very single player games you are probably talking about...I still have a wii and think it's a blast.
Then xbox came out with online multiplayer, sony followed with ps3 and Nintendo STILL refuses to make a serious effort at online, therefore nailing their own coffin,
Right...because XBL really sparked those Xbox sales. That whopping 10% saturation rate was wicked huge. Even now after selling 40 million Xbox and 360's combined, they still only have roughly that 10%. And online isn't exactly making PS3's fly off the shelves now is it? Meanwhile the wii, which supposedly has a nail in it's coffin, is selling in numbers the other two can only dream of or get nostalgic about.
it's only a matter of time before they fall now for their complete ignorance as to where the industry has evolved.
I love how you write off the innovative potential for the Wii as being a gimmick, but call the "same-old-same-old" trend of the 360/PS3, which offer NOTHING NEW TO GAMING, as being "evolved." If people liked by your definition of evolved we'd all still be monkies...but with nicer clothes.
Only a matter of time before they fall? Are you kidding? You still can't find the console in stores and the much praised Paper Mario is coming out in a week...but Nintendo is in trouble. The 360 can't sell more than the Xbox did, and the PS3 can't sell period...but the Wii is in trouble. Right. Talk about willfull, fanboy ignorance.
They let Sony mortally wound them and their refusal to fight Sony and Microsoft back has all but assured their failure. The truth is just not that many people want to play kiddie games and games thta look crappy compared to the other systems
First off, Nintendo is smart to not directly fight with Sony and MS. Not only can they not afford that battle, but SOny and MS are moving down a completely unsustainable path. they are losing more money on the consoles than they can ever hope to make back from game sales. That is why they are adding all these extras features that hopefully will profit elsewhere like online and BR. But by adding these features and focusing on just hardware, they are making consoles too expensive, making game development way too expensive, and yet they have not offered one shred of proof that games sales adn therefore profits will improve even the slightest. If anything, profits for game developers are hurting as their costs go up and sales don't.
Meanwhile Nintendo is makig money off every console, and games are cheaper to make ensuring devs make a profit. Plus with sales and public interet, developers are willing to make more titles that you can't get or do for the other consoles. real gamers care about gaming...not graphics, or showing off, or trying to impress others with delusions of maturity. You are not your game collection my friend. And your insecure whining tells me that you are neither a gamer not mature.
