It's not his fault Sony made the PS3 harder to develop for. If you were a dev would you want to work harder, longer days, etc, just to get the same results? He and his team at Valve are freaking human for crying out loud and we all have our limits when it comes to stress, patience, work, etc.

I dont think we can really compare the ps3 to the ps2. Id compare the ps3 to the sega saturn, lets hope that sony doesnt pull a sega and release another console next year.

On the other hand, you could say that we are now obliged to show him what a big moron he is by proving him wrong and giving Orange Box on PS3 amazing sales, which he will scarcely get a penny of since EA is porting it and not him.
valve have hated the way the industry is going, with multithreading and multiple cores. but when you get like 6 SPEs and XDR ram its like these guys go haywire. valve have always hated it, like they dont even wanna try. what i dont understand is why people wanna play their games on consoles, i cant really understand playing portal in the same way with a analog stick. i dont know maybe im not used to it.

Nah, I do not think the PS2 was the hardest to code for, the GC was easily the most difficult last gen, the PS2 was easy because it came out first and there were lots of developers tools available to make great games. The console that gets out first gets worked on the most, however the PS3 is obviously a difficult console to program for and PC developers can never grasp console hardware because they are so used to making games for one type of hardware that barely changes. The Wii and GC are based off the old PowerPC technology that Apple used in their computers for many years, I do not think PowerPC processors are great for gaming by any means, because they are so hard to develop for and require special programming.

Yet if we did not have multithreading, dual/quad core processors, games like Crysis would not be possible. Games require more power and you need to be able to multitask, sure it is harder to develop for multicore processors but computer hardware has always become more complex over the years. I am sure there will be another processor that is more complex then Cell, but Sony and IBM did develop the PS2 processor so I guess they have a friendly history.

Why do people bash Resistance: Fall of Man so much? I played it at a friends house and enjoyed it quite a bit, GS severely underrated it as far as I am concerned, it deserved at least an 8.0 or 8.5, I do not think it was any better then that though. The graphics are amazing, kind of a blend of Call of Duty 4and Half Life in overall concept with the aliens and the military stuff, the storyline is rather cool and enemies are tough to kill. The downside for me is the story which is crap, like most FPS's though which lack depththat games like Bioshock and Metroid Prime 3 have for stories. Plus dual analog just feels so weird when you play PC FPS's or Metroid Prime 3, the aiming just feels more difficult.

I agree with your opinion of Gabe, but I think people should still buy the game for the PS3....I also think he should at least try to **** make a game on the PS3, because he hasn't yet. It's like in a mathematics course and the prof. delves into a new topic....you're supposed to learn how to solve the new problems, not continue working on the old material just because you know how....
The PS3 has a bottleneck CPU that is horrible for gaming, 256 mb of ram for the GPU, high price point, hardly any games, and a useless storage format.
For the PC you can get a Quad Core CPU PC, Direct X 10 GPU, 2-4 gbs of RAM, 500 gb hard drives.
Face it,your POS 3 is trash compared to the PC. Enjoy.

WHat because I wouldn't want to get the port handle by EA and rather get the HL2 on 360 handle by Valve( the original team that worked on it) If if I did sound like a fanboy in my statement my bad I'm bashing the PS3 I like the system but I wouldn't get HL2 on it. Because the fact EA handle the PS3 version and which version is going to come out better the one by Valve or by EA?
