Let's face it. 2009 is something of a transition year. Wii and 360 exclusives have been lackluster for sure, but gaming as a whole has suffered too. The recession has made people's wallets tight, dooming some games that in other years may have sold well enough to warrant sequels (MadWorld, and GTA: Chinatown Wars come to mind). Not only that, but it seems to me that the perceived lack of games in 2009 compared to 2008/2007 is because the games everyone is anticipating are sequels to 2008/2007 games, and most of these sequels are going to take 2-3 years with any sort of quality to them. Also, let's not forget how much Natal and the PS3 Wand are going to impact games next year. My point is, I think by holiday 2010 we will be able to see which of the two consoles will dominate this generation (if either), but I really don't see any point in declaring either system as a winner until then. There's simply too much resting on this next year and a half for both consoles.
im pretty sure the videogames industry is the only form of entertainment that has actually grown year over year...the USA economy has only really had a major affect on ps3 sales in terms of consoles bc of its high price, but games sales havent had a major drop off

Actually it's down this year compared to last year. You can thank GTA IV and Metal Gear Solid 5 for such a great 1st half of 2008 though.

I don't know about that either, I for one am enjoying Halo Wars and Velvet Assassin but that's just me. Plan on grabbing Star Ocean + GTA DLC soon as well.

Wow that came out in 08? Wow I thought that just got announced! Where have I been? Thanks for the info ;).
Anyway, i find it very unlikely that the 360 or the Ps3 will catch up to the Wii. Maybe I can be proved wrong but I still highly doubt it.

The 360 is doing just fine.. The SW's puts entirely too much emphasis on "Teh Exclusives".. Street Fighter VI, UFC, FNR4, RE 5.. sure those games aren't exclusive but that doesn't take away from the fact that they are good titles. Besides depending on your definition of "doing good" the 360 is doing great.. considering those titles sold nearly double on the 360 as they did on the other platforms.

I was talking about exclusives. It still has the many it got from last year and the years before that. It's basically like saying lets forget 06/07 because PS3 wasn't doing good.
