It had been unclear whether these games would cost full-price on Stadia, given you're simply streaming them as opposed to buying a disc or downloading the game onto a hard-drive. But in a roundtable interview with UK games press this morning, attended by Eurogamer, Stadia chief Phil Harrison indicated Stadia games will cost the same as they do on other platforms such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One - that is, they won't be cheaper.

"I don't know why it would be cheaper," Harrison replied when Eurogamer asked.

Oh Google lol!

So, how does Stadia justify charging full-price for a video game you can only stream? By making it available to play on any screen, Harrison said.

"The value you get from the game on Stadia means you can play it on any screen in your life - TV, PC, laptop, tablet, phone," he said. "I think that is going to be valuable to players."

That, and, "In theory, the Stadia version of a game is going to be at the highest-possible quality of innovation and sophistication on the game engine side."

You pay $10/month. A gen last like 6 years so that's $720/gen. You get the laggiest/worst version of every game. You don't own the game, so you can't sell it when you are done. And you still have to pay full price. But you can play them on your phone lol...

Great deal Google, great deal!

Only thing I expect from Stadia is crap. Our technology isn't good enough to stream games well yet. Google tries to cash in on it anyway by being early.

The tech is crap. The prices are shit. Don't care for it. Hope it dies fast.

Why would it be cheaper? You are renting hardware and paying the same license you would on platforms like steam.

Would be nice of them to give you the native Linux versions as a download, I would buy them.

I get the feeling there are going to be a lot of unhappy customers with this thing.

So this is supposed to work flawlessly over any wireless connection? Ha.

That does suck and that's an immediate turn off from me.

But I was playing Wildlands the other day, I have 35MB internet over wifi and 90 percent of the time I can play PS4 games online no problem, but I was having some issues the other day.

I just can't see how Stadia will work form me when I would have to stream Wildlands and play online at the same time

You won’t be spending much on the console.

@Star67: In that case it might work better assuming it's not your connection. Google will probably host servers for games internally like a LAN across it's own networks so everyone has the same latency or close enough.

It does actually make sense for online only games.

I wish that this will bomb, but casual gamers are so dumb that they'll be fine with the nickel-and-diming.

Wow Google. Wow. Imagine if you had a new show you wanted to watch on Netflix and you pay monthly already then you then they try and charge you $60 for the season of the show just so you can stream it on their platform.....this is dumb.

Just when it seemed this may have a chance, they managed to become OnLive 2.0 in the blink of an eye.

Congrats Google, Stadia will join Google+, Picasia, Google Glass, etc, etc.

Yep, I fully thought it would be exactly like GP/PSnow pay a monthly fee and that's it. As I expect many did. No ones going to use it and everyone is going to go with the more familiar brand (in gaming) than a new player, especially when they are a ridiculous price.

I still don't get the cost effectiveness of these services. Unlike movies in which the data is just streamed, game streaming requires the processing of data and streaming. I am still not sold on the viability as a business but as a agnostic solution its pretty solid.
