I have a ps3 I played FF13 on 1080p tv in high resolution it not only blows away my graphics on mass effect it destroys literally

i feel like im in a movie pretty much while playing FF13

I don't understand why people are saying ME 2 = goty/best graphics of the year/best story of the year

ive seen battlestar galatica espiodes with better plot line then all of mass effect 2 ive seen video games go deep in graphics compared to this game

ive seen less genereic main characters then the ones in mass effect 2

i dont understand the hype the ending was not an A+ from and no the graphics aren't even close an im sick of ppl comparing them its not even a contest their horrible if u put them side by side

why are ppl sayin this FPS fake rpg is goty is beyond my reach i dont understand it its not FPS more then a RPG its not good

I haven't played either. I have seen videos of FF 13 and it looks so empty, that it doesn't really matter if what's left looks good to me.

ME1 looked good, not great, and had tons of pop-in. It still looked better than what I've seen of FF13. I imagine ME2 is better, or at least as good.

You do not know how surprised I am that your opinion happens to differ from other people's opinions! Just amazing! Didn't know that could happen!Very peculiar indeed.

Why dont you act civil about this instead and just acknowledge this game wasnt for you or you didnt like it.

I dont like some games but I acknowledge it wasnt for me and recognize the high production value.

Calling it garbage is just ignorant really imo

The hate that goes towards FFXIII is astounding, especially in SW. Many saying it's a "terribad" game. Seriously, it's a decent game, at the very least, worth an 8.0. GS gave it an 8.5, so it ain't bad at all. It only looks bad because of its FF title. As a jRPG in its own right, its visuals are unmatched among multiplatform titles, and the combat system a fresh retake on the ATB gauge that made the FF franchise so popular. It's only real weakness is in its linearity, and its absolutely ridiculous 10+ hour introduction before the game finally opens up.

Because FF13 has nothing to see, it is either copy paste coriddors (tyhe "jungle") or empty generic spaces

Mass Effect 2 has art and details that goes leaps and bounds above

 both of those games look and play like Crap, Demon's Souls FTW.

:| seriously The graphics in Demon's Souls (even tho no one ever talks about them) is better than both of those over-hyped peices of crapola, The better gameplay in Demon's Souls goes without saying 2009 GOTY(beating out comp like UC2, ASS Creed 2, and batman AA). both ME2 and FFXIII have the standeards of games that should have been released in 2007

Mass Effect 2 ost is better...just listen to "Tali" and "Suicide Mission". It feels more complex than the average soundtrack

FFXIII's ost is average for the series....FFVI, FFIX, and FFX all had better soundtracks.

lol, that's like me saying Halo Reach is just another shooter. You won't get any credibility for saying something as redicliously fail as that.

Dragon Age Origins won more RPG of the Year awards and even GOTY awards. Its more than just Gamespot. Kings Bounty Armored Princess is better than Demon's Souls as well.

Just look at the Legend of Zelda...

True once again. You see, jRPG fans at large have a serious problem: they want their jRPGs to evolve, yet once that is realized by developers, they go berserk and wish for the formula to remain unchanged. See Final Fantasy XII and its MMO approach with its gambit system and real-time combat system. It was BASHED hard for being so different by fans, yet reviewers embraced it. Final Fantasy XIII respins the jRPG formula once again, streamlining the combat system to accomodate more precise controls over one character, and the use of the paradigm shifting system. This was applauded by reviewers for being simple at first, but very deep and complex on a higher level combat against tough bosses and enemies. Yet again, fans go bashing it for being so different. And one of the most ridiculous claims I've seen FF fans bash FFXIII about is in its linear structure (since when do traditional FF RPGs ever break away from linearity, aside from the need to grind? It's because of these kinds of responses that the jRPG formula is wearing thin well into this generation: developers are playing safe, because their hard-headed fans refuse to accept change. Yet Square-Enix tries to revamp the formula, only to get backlashed by its fanbase. There can only be one direction for SE to take: back to the drawing board, and back to traditional FF gameplay, and this will further drag down the jRPG genre through the mud (as though it hasn't been dragged down enough already), because fans demand an evolution of the jRPG genre yet wind up causing its downfall in reality.

listen to many of the character leitmoifs for ME2, they are amazing...every character but Zaeed has one..the best being Jacob, Tali, Kasumi, and Thane. Jacks is manic and crazy and Samara's got a middle eastern flair. ME2's ost is more focused than FFXIII's. Then there is "Reflections"

Great post, man. +1

how about allowing choice and consquence to where the story goes, more freedom, and more unique storytelling. JRPGs were heading that direction in the mid 90's, than stalled. FFXIII was a very poor choice in direction, restricting freedom even further, forced linearity, and a below average story to top it off. My fave three JRPGs are FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and Suikoden II....all had open ended game play (storywise as well), choice and consquence, and alternate endings.

Oh yes, who can forget that empty bowl.

Sidequests don't count, then?

th sidequests in XIII are terrible, especially compared to FFVI's...which had a lot of story relevance.

[QUOTE="texasgoldrush"] Demon's Souls is so overrated...just another hack and slash.TheMightyHoov

lol, that's like me saying Halo Reach is just another shooter. You won't get any credibility for saying something as redicliously fail as that.

 not only is it "just another hack and slash" it's also, a AAA game, the Only exclusive AAA RPG this gen,the 2009 RPG GOTY, and the Overall 2009 GOTY...fanboys bu but"just another hack and slash".

Well ME2 happens to be a AAA title to and potential game of the year.... What now? :?

I have potential to grow wings and fly...what now? :?

guess we'll have to cross that bridge if it ever happens since "potential" and "what if's" are meangingless since I'm talking about what actually happened and you spin out predictions of what could, might, maybe, possible....sounds desperate.

last year Uncharted 2 was AAA andhad "potential" for game of the year...hopeful predictions don't mean anything until it's fact.

BTW:

SMG2 says no to your "potential"

im about to spout off an opinion based on the playtime i put into FF7 and i think it was FFX (maybe ff13 is much different than those, but i assume its roughly the same)

FF games are a much different style of games.... since they are turn based and there is very little in the way of physics, or AI... they can very easily pump out great graphics in their small linear undetailed environments

For instance, Fight Night Round 4... probably has the most realistic graphics/animation that i have seen this gen... but people rarely hail it as a graphics king because its easy to get amazing graphics in a boxing game.

now if you had an RTS style game with the same quality models and animation as fight night, people's jaws would be hitting the floor.

Secondly, japanese style games tend to have much less detailed models... usually they are all smooth and boyish looking... no need to have detailed textures because everyone's skin is perfect and uniform in color, their faces lack the scars and stubble (realism) that we see in games like me 2. In other words, games that are modeled after cartoons, are alot less impressive than games modeled after real life.

[QUOTE="IppoTenma"][QUOTE="Brainhunter"] True once again. ARGH! I'm done. I'm sick of defending this game.

That's the thing, your comparing them to past FF's. FF13 was my first FF. And I think it frigging owned.

This is why I can't defend Super Mario Sunshine anymore ethier. People are always comparing it to past installements.

The only game I can think of with genuinely good sidequests is Majoras Mask and Red Dead Redemption, anyway,

I'm playing through FF8 right now, and so far I'm favoring FF13. There no frigging way FF13 is one of the worst games of all time.

Nice nitpicking at my post.

You disregarded the AAA part I see.

And saying its potential mean its high;y regarded.

Just acknowledge that the game just wasnt for you instead of calling it crap. Its an opinion,. Deal with it.

Uncharted 2 WAS the GOTY...it won an overwhelming amount of awards. The same thing will happen with ME2, although it has stiffer competition.

i dont understand the hype the ending was not an A+ from and no the graphics aren't even close an im sick of ppl comparing them its not even a contest their horrible if u put them side by side

why are ppl sayin this FPS fake rpg is goty is beyond my reach i dont understand it its not FPS more then a RPG its not good

ZarbonX

I can understand ur rage on Mass Effect 2 but who is sayin its an FPS...Its a TPS/RPG elements..though RPG elements were better in the original..

On graphics dept... I will agree with u that FF XIII and RE 5 looks best on multiplat....u can argue bout Dead Space also.

But as a whole production value and presentation..This is a no conest. MASS EFFECT 2 (Hands Down!)

If u have really played them both then u will know the difference.

If ur comparing Graphics then OK but apart from that...The entire critics,Reviews and Gamers r the proof to say u enough bout the Greatness of Mass Effect 2.

Yeah, ME2 and AW are blown out of proportion by lemmings who are desperate to overthrow U2 AND KZ2.
